The Chargers have reportedly made LaDainian Tomlinson a "final offer" in negotiations to restructure his contract.

The Chargers have put him in a position where he can either accept the offer or play elsewhere in 2009. Beat writer Kevin Acee said that "every indication I had gotten privately from those who know Tomlinson was that he was gone." The decision is now in LT's hands.

Lol at everybody thinking LT is done. He had one mediocre season (not bad but just mediocre) while he was dealing with turf toe and groin issues all season long. How can anybody say he is officially done. I would take him in a heartbeat on my team.

I bet that LT will come back with a vengence this next season. Everybody who compares him to Alexander is clueless as they are two completely different backs. Alexander never had the speed, he was always a bull rusher. He went downhill fast when he lost the ability to run people over and had accumulated far too many hits.

LT on the other hand has always been a scat back. How many big hits have you seen him take in his career? I dont remember many.

Shaun Alexander started his decline when he was 28. LT is 30. He has had two more years than Alexander had as being an elite runner. The thing with LT being a scat back is that he was still on the field most of the game. He still gets hit on every play. He did run between the tackles more than the normals scat back would too. Who knows if he can fully recover form his injuries too. I dont think he is fully washed up but he is not the elite runner he once was.

now if they draft a RB with their first pick, then no, maybe they're not as dumb as they are starting to look, but if they seriously think that they can play Sproles at runningback and be successful, then they are in for a rough season with a lot of the pressure put on Phillip Rivers shoulders. because they aren't going to be able to run the ball unless they play a defense like Indianapolis' last year.

keep in mind, Darren Sproles didn't do anything special against Indianapolis last year in the playoffs, he simply did what EVERY runningback who had played indianapolis had done that year, and that is benefit from playing an undersized defense with a strong o-line. when everyone was riding sproles dick going into that divisional game, against Pittsburgh, what did he do? oh, I remember, the Steelers D hung the stuttering little fuck upside down on the rafters by his shoe laces.

Sproles is a game changer, great player, explosive as hell, but if the chargers are expecting him to be a 30 carry a game back, then they are in for some sad times. because not every team in the NFL has an Indianapolis Colt defense.

The reason you said Sproles did well is the same reason you said he sucked. If you're not going to give him credit for having a good game against an undersized defense, you better not DIS-credit him for having a bad game against a phenominal defense.

Although yes, I do agree with you that he's not a 30 carry guy. But they're sitting in the middle of the draft with few holes in their roster... will Moreno make a trip to California?

We better bring him back.. I guess, every day that goes past is a good thing. It's been said we've put our final offer on the table - hopefully LT takes it. If he was to refuse it, wouldn't he have done it by now? I'm guessing and hoping that they're in final negotiations.

I'm guessing the contract will be EXTREMELY incentive based.. It's up to LT whether he thinks he will meet those incentives.. If not, he'll probably be signing elsewhere.

Sproles will get them farther in the long run I think. LT hasn't had a huge game in the postseason, and Sproles already had one of the best games concerning total yards in a playoff game.
