**Madden 10 Wishlist**

I think we've all had enough time to enjoy (and not enjoy) this year's version of Madden football. With this came great pleasure and great pain.

Discuss what you would like to see change, or stay the same, in next year's Madden game:


-- Intelligent CBs:
I hate that a CB in man coverage with safety help over the top plays the exact same way as a CB in man coverage on an island. Likewise, I should not be able to run 10 consecutive curl patterns and complete all 10 of them. Anyone in their right mind would eventually slow up a bit and wait for the curl, especially with deep help over the top.

Tying along with that, I think every once in a while the CB should guess and jump the route. This happens a lot, and it's high risk high reward, but if the QB is constantly throwing the same route, there should be a downside to it.


--Delay routes (and making any pattern into a delay using hot route):
They need to fix delay routes, simple as that. The delay doesn't say "wait a few seconds, then release no matter what". They're supposed to check their guy and see if he blitzes, and if he does, you never go out on your pattern. If he doesn't, THEN you get to the flats or whatever. Too many times the delay pattern is completely ineffective, when this is used every play in the NFL in blitz pick up.

Ideally, every play should use this feature, and it should work how it's supposed to. Or, if I recognize a blitz, I should be able to make any pattern into a delay route using the hot route system.


--Hit or miss blitzing/blocking:
Nano blitzes were invented because Madden's blocking AI was terrible. This year is no different, but in some cases, it's TOO good. The offense apparently has a sixth sense for where the defenders are coming from every time, and tweaking this just a bit is what causes nano blitzes. That's why sometimes the offense should be right, but sometimes they should be wrong. A guy SHOULD get in up the middle untouched sometimes. It's not always about a player beating his block.

It would be cool to see a blitz work to perfection on one play, then get bottled up the next. Something to that effect would add a lot of realism to the game. When certain blitzes just never work, and when certain blitzes ALWAYS work, does EA expect us not to use this to our advantage?

- More QuarterBack attributes to make them more unique.

- Some sort of new feature where if you keep running the same routes on offense the Defense will realize it, and start to jump routes.

- Hopefully they will get rid of the spinning catch animation.

- Balance WR jumping, make it possible to compete with CBs instead of it being automatically an INT, but dont make it so dominant its immediately considered cheese.

- better franchise

- better online features. I still want spectator mode god damnit.

- Ill post more later.

Id like to see smarter safety and corner movement at times , like if a route is open and u look at it for a while a safety like ed reed when not being usered should be to jump and cover the route more , also some feature were agreesive corners like Croamartie go for the big play trying to jump things which can be great or terrible, but it would be nice to see.

Give me more franchise opions too , ps2 had the right idea with all the junk they put into it like Radio shows for your team and so on.

Also fix the god damn superstar lol , If i suck dont start me over peyton manning at qb or w.e thats just dumb .... You should have to prove yourself in pre season and such to be able to start non of this auto start stuff. Make superbowl week if u make it special some how and not just another game ,just more in depth in general for superstar would be nice

For online how about making the online leagues properly this time?? cause the 09 ones are a joke , i dont mind cause leaguedaddy is great and all but it just seems like a waste of time how they made them this year

I agree with the Spectator mode, that would make the game a whole lot better. Also when your opponent quits you should be able to sim to the end like in NCAA.

--Coaches philosophies:
I want every team to have their own defensive formations (4-3 is one thing, but not everyone uses a 4-3 with the linemen or LBs where they are in Madden) and have plays that centralize around that philosophy. Obviously, a Cover 2 team does run some Cover 3 and 0 blitz, but generally speaking, all of their plays should come out like a Cover 2.

--QB Accuracy:
The majority of incompletions in the NFL are from just miss-fired passes. This never happens in Madden (which is why you can end a game 20/22). If I don't set my feet, if I'm throwing falling backwards, I should pay the price.

Essentially, there should be a "circle" around the intended receiver, and the ball could go anywhere in that circle. The circle gets smaller as the QB accuracy increases. Using precision passing, that circle will move in the direction you desire. A QB with bad accuracy will have a much larger circle, and therefore over-shooting sometimes when trying to lead the receiver.

Now, I don't want this feature to actually be seen in the game, but that's how the engine should work.


--Player speed:
Recovery speed in this game is so unrealistic. There's no time between being at a stand still and reaching top speed. EA, you want to make safeties respect their deep half and not play in the box pre-snap when they should be watching the deep ball, you'll fix this.


--Game-planning:
It would be cool to have a game-plan going into the game and be able to adjust that gameplan. I alluded to this before when I said CBs can jump routes, there should be a feature that I can switch that maybe says "CBs aggression". Also, should my LBs play the short guy or the long guy in a hook/curl zone? Should we key on a certain player (the playbook should adjust to having a lot of plays designed against that player)? All of these things would make it a lot more realistic.

--Going back to intelligent CBs:
I forgot to mention this in my first post: DOUBLE TEAMS ARE A JOKE. The CB and safety have no idea that they are both helping one another. It would be nice to see them compliment each other.


--A few new "whiffing" animations:
These would just add realism to the game in my opinion. The RT whiffs on the speeding pass rusher, the LB dives and reaches his arm out with no success on a shifty RB, a DB lunges into a throwing lane to deflect a pass but he's just too late. It looks stupid when the DE just runs right by my tackle.

- More player progession in Franchise mode. I swear there are some players that will no go up no matter what, and then there are some players that hit a certain rating and refuse to go up.

- Online League feature being fixed. The new league feature they added was the greatest idea they had since they came out with an online feature. but they fucked it up this year.

it would be really nice if they had the espn show after the week in franchise mode, you know what im talkin about if you played 2k5, i loved it, it would show every game then stats just like espn would do then they would do key injurys and so on.

Online Franchise. I love Online Dynasties on NCAA. If they did this right it could be amazing.

Man coverage that is actually effective.

Like Jpackers said, chemistry between QBs and WRs, QBs and TEs, etc.. This would be for Franchise mode. This would make it so you can't just sign any WR/QB/TE/HB in the middle of the season and have them play amazing right away. To go along with this, players knowledge of the teams playbook. In real life, Roy Williams didn't really play that much for Dallas the first couple weeks after trading for him and he wasn't very effective. In Madden, hes effective right away.

Progression in franchise mode based on how a player plays. It seems more random then anything(same can be said about NCAA during "training" in the offseason).

Better draft logic in franchise.

Make it so speed and height don't dominate all. There have been so many players that have had speed and height and sucked in the NFL. In Madden they own no matter what. A 6'6 99 speed 50 overall WR dominates a 5'10 86 speed 85 overall WR.

Like Wildcard said, more attributes for QBs. Like deep pass accuracy, intermediate accuracy, etc..

Like Dspydr said, make it so players can't go from not moving to full speed just like that. It takes time for that to happen, yet a free safety can go from the line of scrimmage to knocking down a deep pass to Randy Moss. How many safeties can honestly do that in real life?

James Hardy is horrible at catching the jump ball. But since he's tall, any Joe-schmoe with good user ability will make Hardy a godly receiver. This goes for ALL receivers in Madden. If anyone has noticed, the jump ball to a tall WR isn't any more of an advantage than it should be when there is no user catch.


The solution: GET RID OF USER CATCH. I want to see all the so called "best" players win without it. Let the WRs/DBs play to their ability level.

Oh, and for those of you that want to say, "yeah, but the defense can user catch"... DON'T THROW IT INTO COVERAGE AND YOU WON'T HAVE THAT PROBLEM WILL YOU?!?!

I'm pretty sure I still throw the ball and run after the catch. That half-second between when I throw it and when I catch it isn't the difference between Madden and Head Coach.

All user catch does it turn your #4 WR into a prime time starter. If he can make all the plays, what does a good WR do for a team? He's not any more of a weapon than the #4 WR because they both have the same skill... your user ability.

take away the stupid jump back pass catching animations. i dont know how many times i have thrown the drag to a te only to have him jump back wards and get tackled for a 2 yard gain.

Anything that can put fun back into the franchise mode. I want a atmosphere, when I make a huge play I want my stadium to go crazy. On 3rd downs, or in the goal-line I wanna hear my fans chanting.

If you win a playoff game or the Super Bowl...make it FEEL like that. It is just like any other game when you win one.

-The ability to set prices for everything, hot dogs, drinks, parking ETC.
-Ad Campaigns for your team like MLB The Show IE. Newspaper ads, TV Ads etc.

2. More Animations
-I know we've been spoiled with a lot of nice animations but I'd like to see throwing styles that are different, more running styles, more spectacular catches, tackle animations that make me say damn!
-When players get injured it seems all I ever see them do is limp off the field or hold their arm, bring out the damn stretcher and have the medical crew come out on the field.

3. Improve off the field graphics and animations
-I hate how bland the sideline is.
-I wanna see some fans going crazy and the camera cutting to them.

4. Improve Presentation
-Before the game starts cut to the announcers and let them give a quick insight on the game.
-Show some key players warming up before the game.
-I want a highlight show but i seriously doubt it will ever happen since its been suggested since 06.

5. More Ratings
-I wanna see more ratings for pocket presence, clutch, Etc... someone help me with this one.
