The latest Playstation Blogcast has confirmed that the Madden '13 demo will be available for download on Tuesday 8/14. It was expected to be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 but Sony has also announced it will be available for the Vita.

Official word from EA that the demo is coming Tuesday 8/14. It will feature the choice of playing the Giants vs. 49ers or Seahawks vs. Redskins.

Hi Madden NFL fans, I’m Patrick Bellanca, designer for Madden NFL 13. The start of the NFL season is almost here and Madden NFL 13’s August 28th release date is rapidly approaching, which means it’s time to talk about the Madden NFL 13 demo. The demo will be available as a free download on Tuesday, August 14th! This year’s demo is your first chance to experience the Infinity Engine, our all-new real time physics engine, and a sneak peek at a couple of home, away, and throwback Nike uniforms.

The Madden NFL 13 demo offers two Play Now matchups. One features the Super Bowl XLVI champion New York Giants visiting the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of last season’s NFC Championship game. The other involves the Seattle Seahawks traveling to the Washington Redskins, who are of course led by rookie QB Robert Griffin III. And before you step onto the field for either of these matchups, you’ll get to check out the redesigned pregame presentation. That includes a broadcast TV-inspired segment that features some top players in the upcoming game you’re about to play, and is followed by Jim Nantz and Phil Simms in the booth talking about the story of the game.

On the field, you have access to everything that’s new in Madden NFL 13. This includes Total Control Passing to accurately place the ball anywhere on the field as the QB; the Ball Hawk mechanic to aggressively play the ball in the air as a defender; play action abort to cancel out of a play action when sensing pressure as a QB; use of Kinect (Xbox 360 only) to control pre-play audibles and adjustments with your voice; and of course the Infinity Engine that brings physics you can feel on every play.

We’re also going to be giving away free copies of Madden NFL 13. The demo has a lot more too, like the new Main Menu Action Grid, new theme music, improved lighting with HDR, motion blur, an instant replay overhaul, and more. I couldn't enjoy playing with the Seahawks because they continuously put their DE's on the wrong side. The Seahawks base is a 4-3 under with Clemons on the right side and Red Bryant on the left. They've screwed this up the past couple of years. It was like back in the old days when they would always put Burgess at RE even though he played LE.

Really liking the fact that they are offering two different matchups of a FULL game of 5 minute quarters with all difficulty options available. Not only that but showcasing the Gameface feature as well. EA usually doesn't showcase this much for a demo. I think it's a very positive thing that they are willing to showcase so much. Their confidence is very high with this years Madden. I can't f'ing wait!

I'll keep playing NCAA to enter some dyn's in a couple weeks and simply buy Madden when its out like always.

Demo's are always shotty and never tell me what i really want to know anyway. The ncaa demo reminded me again what a waste of time demo's really are for me. Just get me the game

[Regarding Ball Hawk Mechanic] it’s a mechanic. you basically hold the catch button and the defender you’re controlling moves to make a play on the ball. It’s basically like defensive assist … you click on a defender when the ball is in the air and hold Y (XBOX) and it will take you to the highest point (aggressive point) to try and intercept the pass.

Using ball hawk is going to be a risk/reward feature. If you go for the ball and miss it...a big gain or TD for your opponent could be the result.

It's going to be risk/reward in being able to tell if the user is gay or not. Seriously, who comes up with this mickey mouse shit to hold one button and let the game play itself?

I don't get that impression at all, just an assist at making a play rather than manually timing swat/catch yourself.

Could be but I was just taking what Dewiel said at face value.

@jdewiel @jpdavis1982 it's a new feature that team added to help users on D. You hold in Y/Triangle to make a play on the ball at its high point...

@jdewiel @jpdavis1982 but if you time it wrong, you're giving up a big play. Think about how guys like Ed Reed play the game. Hope that helps.

@JDewiel @RHerron68 it's about timing. Blindly hitting this doesn't mean you'll get a pick. There's some serious risk vs. reward that takes place.
