People are giving a lot of credit to Rizzo for getting the Nationals into competing, but Kasten set a lot of the groundwork. I actually don't think anything should be taken away from either, considering Rizzo is a ballsy GM and, with the exception of the Werth deal, has made some pretty good moves for Washington.

But onto the Dodgers, great news. I'm sure Magic will let Kasten assemble who he wants to run the baseball side of things, sit back and profit.

He's not the figurehead of the team. He's the figurehead of being a group from Los Angeles. He won't be running the team in any capacity. He just cheeses and collects checks.

Maybe, but they have a huge deal on the table from fox if in not mistaken for a tv contract. They also have the money to pay $2 billion and make the team a power team in terms of money.

Frank McCourt didn't just take one last swing at Los Angeles for the road. He sold the team to one of the most beloved sports stars and businessmen this town has ever known: Magic Johnson.

Yes, he's just one of the front men for the group. He's chipping in a significant amount to you and me, but nothing consequential to a $2 billion bid. The real money is coming from Mark Walter, the CEO of Guggenheim Partners, whose company controls at least $125 billion in assets world wide.

Yeah. That was really just my quick first impression last night based on the rumors that have been swirling since the bidding has been going on. Now that there's more information out there, it's not that bad. Apparently they're paying straight cash.
