Vinsane do you think the Spurs are capable of staying healthy for the full season? Duncan played all last year hurt, Ginobili got hurt, then bringing in Mcdyess and his injury problems won't help. If healthy, I believe that they are about even with Dallas if not slightly better, yet I can't imagine them maintaining their health.
San Antonio showed a ding in their armor . One that they're praying doesn't get any bigger. No Manu Ginobili or Tim Duncan? No ring.
I think Pop knows how to manage his squad. He knows to manage his players minutes more than anything, this season. Poppovich is why this team stays together and focused. Greg Poppovich MVP 2010!
Remember, this is a San Antonio team that finished 3rd in the West, division champs. With all the complications they still managed to win their division. Yeah Manu went out late and the west had already been decided, still. This team managed to finish third in the West.
You also missed the biggest addition to the Spurs. Richard Jefferson.
29 years young, in his seventh season. RJ is getting up there but he still contributes 19PPG. And makes it possible for the Spurs to move the ball around. No one spreads the floor better than San Antonio. Meanwhile, McDyess was a pick up to share garbage minutes and rest the older players as much as possible.
I'm looking at San Antonio right now as the top 3 again in the West. Intangibles in L.A. and Denver have to happen first but this Spurs squad is "re-tooled" not rebuilt. San Antonio had one of the better FA periods, and went under a lot of radars. Just the way they like it.
Brooks, Ariza, Battier, Scola, Landry.. thats some pretty solid talent imo, and we've all seen that they can win with or without McGrady/Yao.. They may even get some decent pieces back if they choose to trade McGrady.
Not to mention Rick Adleman who is a great coach.
They're gonna make the playoffs..but probably as the 8th seed.
Brooks, Ariza, Battier, Scola, and Landry. Solid talent in the East maybe? You compare that to what half the teams in the west start and these guys don't stand a chance. Houston went without Yao, or without McGrady. Not both of them at the same time, and then they had Ron Artest leading.
Ron Artest > Trevor Ariza. Don't get me wrong Trevor is a solid, solid talent. He's going to rot on some bad Houston teams though to earn his star. I don't like the way this ship is heading. Especially when teams know what McGrady brings to the table, injuries. McGrady really would only go to a contender, and what contender is going to give up any of the real talent they have for McGrady?
Houston will get some great picks for McGrady but I don't see them landing any real help for Trevor Ariza.
