Peoples asked for the 170 fight to be changed to 179. Bowling agreed. Then Peoples came in at 182. What a goof. He eventually made 180.5 and Bowling took the fight anyway.

I was getting ready to argue that it's better than 142....went to wiki to check out the card and :noidea:...you're right.

I do like Alcantra/Omigawa and Silva/Prater (sucks the other prospect pulled out) and the co-main and main event...but meh for the rest.

Finally, Gil cuts a good promo. Fuck UFC, you send someone to MY HEXAGON.

Gil put on a dominant performance, rendering Masvidal's striking ineffective no matter how much Gil's face was marked up. Still, most exciting part of the fight was the 5th round argument between Mauro, Pat & Frank about the topic of whether Masvidal was scoring more because of the visual damage to Gil.

Pat Miletich is if not better than Rogan, as good.

Gil's promo was sweet calling for UFC to send someone to his house. I doubt they do it but they almost have to unless Caros Fodor is gonna main event a card next year.

Josh Barnett's promo was awesome, as usual. When he looked straight into the camera and said, "I will take Daniel Cormier down" and winked....I lost it.

I cannot fucking wait for that fight.

Mousasi was impressive in that he absolutely outworked OSP. Still doubt he could defend King Mo's takedowns, I'd rather see Mousasi vs. Feijao before the rematch.

What's with all the talk about forcing Cyborg down to 135? I have this feeling that she'll lose when he makes the drop...although if it's Rousey they're looking to feed to her....Cyborg should destroy her.

Sounded like they will go with Tate/Kaufman 2 and Cyborg/Rousey.....damn, I really wanted to see Tate/Rousey.

I think now that the contract situation is settled, and Dana White is going to be positioned front & center in 2012 at Strikeforce events, that not only are the cherry picking days over, but I also think they may use UFC talent lost in the shuffle to supplement the SF roster.

They won't send guys who can draw obviously, but in cases where a guy is just floating along, or where a guy loses a few and would normally be cut, they may send them over to beef up a soft division (like lightweight is now).

Gil literally has nothing left. He's cleaned out SF, he's cleaned out the top DREAM guys, and the only remotely interesting fight he has left is another Josh Thompson scrap, but Melendez blew by Thompson years ago, and Thompson is never healthy.

With the long term future now settled, and guys locked into Showtime due to the contract, they will have to start sending guys the opposite direction every now & then.

If Cyborg wants to fight more than once every two years, she has no choice but to go to 135. There are no 145 girls left for her outside of maybe Rousey and she's considering 135. Even Amanda Nunes moved back to 135. I definitely see her not looking as invincible at 135. Last I read/heard is that she walks around 165. She'd be a skeleton at 135.

Gilbert looked good striking. A bit shocked he didn't go for many takedowns. There was one point in the third round where I thought Masvidal finally got Melendez to play his game, but it just didn't happen.

HIROKO lasted as long as I thought she would.

What's with the shitty reffing in Mousasi fights. There was no way he should have gotten stood up.

I don't understand the negativity coming from Melendez's victory. He didn't finish Masvidal (few have), but he just outboxed one of the best strikers at LW. Masvidal is really slick defensively and hard to hit.

Was sort of disappointed in Masvidal. He seemed to content to play his counter game even though he was behind and ride out the loss. It reminded me a lot of the Alvarez/Curran fight. In the future, I would like to see Masvidal throw more combinations.

LOL @ Wilcox getting KO'd in 13 seconds by Fodor. I wish they snuck that in the broadcast.

Potential UFC Lightweights to Send to the Hexagon

- Clay Guida - Perhaps the least appealing of the choices because years ago, Melendez beat Guida in SF. Guida is out of UFC title contention following the loss to Pettis but he has a great fan following. If he sticks in UFC, the most natural fight may be with Maynard.

- Winner of Guillard/Miller on FX - They main event the FX card and both are coming off losses which ruined their momentum. Either man should make for a great fight with Melendez.

- Gray Maynard - Again, not the most appealing after seeing the Bully in two title fights already in 2011. If he gets back in the cage early in 2011 and gets a win, why not? He won't be challenging for the UFC belt anytime soon so he'll just be picking off contenders.

- BJ Penn - He's not contending for the UFC 155 belt after losing twice to Edgar and his welterweight return has been blah. Does he want to fight another Gracie guy and is it cost effective to send him to Strikeforce? He's got the most name power and despite his losses of late, would still be an impressive win for Melendez.

The whole temporarily-send-UFC-fighters-to-Strikeforce idea is really wack to me. Don't send people who have lost in the UFC to contend for another organization's belt. It only devalues the prestige of the organization even more.

Either send Frankie Edgar over for a superfight, move Gilbert to the UFC, or make a serious effort in building the Strikeforce roster.
