Harvey is the NL Cy Young, no other answer is remotely acceptable.
I like Davis over Miggy, Davis is just unreal and since i'm a guy who will consider the word "valuable" as part of the criteria until they remove it from the award description, I also think Davis means more to his team than Miggy means to his.
I love me some Votto, but this is his worst offensive year since 2010, and he's having a bad defensive year by his stardards (10 errors already, multiple mental mistakes). It doesn't "feel" like he's having an MVP caliber season, but then when you look at the numbers he's either the leader or among the leaders in runs created, OPS+, Adj batter runs & wins, WPA, and of course, on base percentage & times on base.
Thing is, voters aren't going to look at that. He has 14 HR's & 38 RBI. He's slugging .518, but that's his lowest total since 2008. Nothing wrong with a .326/14/38 line, but he's not going to win a batting title, hit 40 HR's, or drive in 100 runs, so when you have guys with 80 RBI & 32 HR's by July 1, Votto's season doesn't look very impressive.
I'm not sure what my point is here, but I think i'd vote for Cargo at this point. What I do know, is Votto won't win. Not even sure he should, but it's a better argument.
Also, re: Votto RBI total. Brandon Phillips, a fine hitter for a middle infielder, who has hit very well with RISP this season but has a slash line nearly identical to his career line, has 61. Votto leads the league in walks with 60, leads the league in IBB with 11. Now, i'm not ripping Phillips, because teams have dared him to beat them and he has. Good on him. But when people say lineup protection doesn't exist, I don't think they examine it from all angles. Brandon Phillips & Joey Votto's RBI totals are a direct result of lineup protection. For both men.
