This is day 2 of the awards, with the Cy Young. Will do Manager of the Year and MVP tomorrow, so we should be wrapped up for the start of the LDS.

First up, the AL Cy Young, which has become the battle ground for those who think wins are important, and those who don't.

Why? He was first in ERA, first in total IP and is 2nd in WHIP. Has more complete games than Sabathia or Price, has more total K's than Sabathia or Price (2nd most total), and has a higher K/9 than Sabathia or Price.

He's better in every category, he just pitches for a shittier team. Give him the Yankees offense and we're talking about 22-25 wins, and one of the greatest pitching performances of all time.

i'm a Yankees fan so i voted for CC but it should go to Felix. like what NAHSTE said, put him on the Yankees and he far surpasses CC's win total.

Can you really call it a win when you give up five runs, but your offense scores six?

Good pitchers know how to "pitch to the scoreboard".

I have no problem with a pitcher who gets a 6-0 lead, then pitches economically for 7 innnings, throwing 1-0 and 2-0 fastballs right down the middle, giving up 5 or 6 runs, and wins 10-6. To me, that's a good start. The idea is to win games, not lead the league in WHIP. It makes no sense to make a ton of high stress pitches in May with a 8-0 lead on the Pirates. Let the 8 gloves do the work.

That's not an argument against Felix, i'm just saying that sometimes the statistics don't tell the whole story. I also believe that in general (but not in the case of Felix) "bad" wins and "good" losses typically will even out. Hernandez had a Ben Sheets 2004 season, he could have won 25 games in a different situation.

I thought about it for a while, but went with Felix for the complete games, strikeouts, etc. As great as Cliff Lee was control-wise, Felix was more dominant.

Don't get me wrong guys. Felix is easily my number 1 that deserves it, I just don't think the league will give it to him due to the record. I'd give it to him in a heart beat, I just don't think the league will. Should have worded it a little differently I guess.

It was a close call for me when I actually broke down Lee's numbers I just think Felix was far more dominant.
