Eutechnyx will be following up 2011's NASCAR The Game: 2011 with the fall 2012 launch of NASCAR The Game: Inside Line for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii platforms, a press release confirms. The developer's first crack at the pro racing license for Activision fell a bit short of the mark, as our NASCAR The Game: 2011 review states, but Activision clearly has faith in the follow-up.

And why not? Eutechnyx is known best these days for its free-to-play PC racer, Auto Club Revolution. The long-lived studio also has a ton of racing sims on its resume. Executive producer Dave Thompson promises a number of improvement in the 2012 NASCAR game, including a newly revised career mode in which you can "rise up through the ranks, attract sponsors, and upgrade [your] car's components in the quest to be the Spring Cup Series Champion. There are also new online features "that include realistic race weekends."

I wouldn't count on it, at least for this upcoming game. Their first NASCAR game had a lot of problems, and with a year and a half development time for the second game I would assume they would at least try to nail the Cup version to be as authentic as possible.

from my understanding you will start out in Sprint Cup Series and you have some sort of progression up to superior equipment. Sounds a bit like they are trying to relive Nascar Thunder 2004(in it you had to R&D your engines and chassis, could take on sponsors or sign with other teams and manage and build your own cars.) I'd suspect its probably not going to be as in depth but similar.

Building your own car was sweet. I remember being able to build specific chassis and engines for each type of track. It added realism when I wrecked my car and the damage wasn't perfect the very next race, as it took a couple of races to repair the car.

I want to be excited for this game since I really enjoy racing, but after last years version and spending most of my time playing IRacing it is tough to get amped for this.

I always find Nascar games way to hard to control and stay in straight lines with a controller. I wish they made a good driving wheel that would make these games more like driving a car and less like drunk driver.

All I ever used to do in the old NASCAR games is just drive in the opposite direction and try to cause massive pile ups. Those were the days.

I'd do that on NASCAR Thunder 2003, knock every car out, then drive around myself and win the race.

There are a few good wheels out there, it's just that they don't get marketed to the normal gaming crowds and they aren't sold at normal retailers. Fanatec, Logitech (only their higher end ones), and Thrustmaster make some great wheels that have a very realistic feel. But yeah, this type of racing game is tough with a controller.
