NBA Draft: Star/Sleeper/Bust?

Discuss who will be the star of the draft class sleeper, and the bust.

My Star: Ty Lawson- He will be a very talented guard in the NBA. He has great court vision, hes a great defender, and he has a good perimeter shot. Also he has the ability to drive.

My Sleeper: Johnny Flynn- I think he could come in the league and be a very good PG some day. He did a great job leading Syracuse to a 3rd seed in the NCCA Tourny. He has a solid perimeter shot, great penetrator and can also pass the ball. He doesn't play that bad defense either. I think he could be a good steal in the late 1st round.

My Bust: Tyreke Evans- I think tyreke will be a bust because of a few reason. Reason one, he isn't that great of a defender. Players like bryant and mcgrady will burn him every time. Also he isn't great at finishing at the basket because he isn't as strong as alot of the players. Also, when the game is on the line, he doesn't take over. If he wants to be good he needs to improve at these, but i have him as my bust.

Star-Not sure yet.

Sleeper-Sam Young-Young has tremendous athletic ability. He really put himself on the map last year(2008) in the big east tournament when he played spectacular and led Pitt to the finals. He had another spectacular year this year. He needs to become a better ball handler before he can become a star at the NBA level, but his athleticism mixed with his jumpshot makes him a definite candidate for this category.

Bust-Hasheem Thabeet-Thabeet is 7'3 265 of college center. The problem is that he is to soft in the post. Blair man handled Thabeet when their respective teams met earlier this season. In the NBA there are bigger and much more physical players that Thabeet will have to face, such as Shaq, Yao, Duncan, just to name a few. Unless he toughness up he will not make it that far in the NBA. Besides the fact that big men have a higher bust percentage then any other position, Thabeet has little to no post game. All in all he has good defense but does he have the toughness to survive on the NBA level.
 
Agreed that Lawson is going to be an NBA star. I also think Johnny Flynn will be a top notch NBA PG aswell.

Bust for me is Earl Clark. Just dont like dude at all.. dont think hes going to be a good NBA talent.

Sleeper is Toney Douglas and Patty Mills. I think both of these guys are going to be solid NBA pros. But a more over-looked guy for me is Tyrese Rice. If he gets a shot somewhere in the NBA I think he can atleast be a good back-up PG.
 
Star: Blake Griffin. Everyone says he needs to develop a better jump shot and I think he does and that will come in time. He is going to be a star on no matter what team drafts him.

Sleeper: Dante Cunningham. I think he can be a nice forward for any team. Nova puts a lot of stock in their guards but Cunningham had to transcend all that and be a better player which will pay off in the NBA.

Bust: Willie Warren. I think he needs some more time in college. He looks good but he needs to work on his passing if he wants to succeed in the NBA.

Does not really matter, it just means he will get to the line alot.

Edit: Speaking of Lawson i dont see him being that good in the NBA. He might be a solid role player but nothing big to rave about.
 
Star- Johnny Flynn- I feel he just has it...very quick, has great vision and he can shoot the rock.

Sleeper- Dionte Christmas- I always loved his game...he'll be better on a team where he doesn't have to be the man right away but he'll develop nicely IMO...can be a 20pt scorer.

Bust- Dejuan Blair- Sweetney part deux.
 
idk about star and sleeper but I'm saying that Jordan Hill will be a bust.

I go to University of Arizona and attended most of the home games (they were awesome) and watched most of the road games on TV. Jordan seems to lack the power he needs to be a good big man. He also seems to not have some of the skills needed as well. It was just frusterating watching him in the paint IMO. With that body he could have done more. I'll be glad if im wrong it just was something that always made me mad.

Star - Ty Lawson - Kid is quick, good court vision. If he can get in a run in gun system he could be dangerous. Where I think he'd be the least effective is on a defensive minded team. What about that team with a happy medium? Tough call depends if he can adapt to the NBA systems. He was playing with NBA talent at UNC, could be very effective. Reminds me of a Mike Conley. (I only watch OSU so please don't flame.)

Sleeper - Johnny Flynn - I'm not quite sure about this one, I think a guy like Johnny Flynn would be considered a star, a lot of teams are going to over look him though to be honest. He only qualifies in the sleeper, as it will take him a bit longer than others to adapt to the NBA.

Bust - Blake Griffin - I know a lot of guys are riding high on this guy, and I know the nation has him ranked at number one, if you're a number one player in the Nation, you find a way to beat a giant like UNC, talent around you or not. You find a way to at least make the game respectable. Griffin is what I call "too puffy" he's not built for the NBA, if he can work on his physic he might be able to hang with the big men of the NBA. Sorry, I for one won't buy the hype.

Well that doesn't nessasarly mean he won't succeed. People like Ben Wallace and Samual Dalembert arn't great offensive players but they had pretty nice careers. Now I don't see Thabeet being a bust, i see him beening a defensive minded starting C averaging like 10 pts, 10 rebs, and 2 block. With that height and what I've seen him do in college, i know he can play some D. But i do agree about the offensive consistancy. I still don't think that won't make him a bad player.
