Buyout hinders Rubio, T-Wolves
According to a report by ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher, Spanish star Ricky Rubio's move to the NBA has been complicated by his sliding to fifthin the draft, costing him about $600,000 per year, but the only options he's currently considering are playing in Minnesota or returning to DKV Joventut, sources say.
Joventut reportedly is asking for no less than $4 million for his release.
Going to another European team is not a realistic option because that team would want a long-term commitment from Rubio and his desire remains to play in the NBA even in Minnesota, a source says.
"This isn't about Minnesota," the source says. "It's about the buyout."
Stackhouse won't play for Pistons
Jerry Stackhouse would like to return to Detroit, but the Pistons have no interest in signing him.
"Hey, I would have loved going back to Detroit," Stackhouse told The Detroit News on Tuesday. "But I don't think they were interested. They are moving in a different direction. They wanted younger. You know I had a list of teams who were interested in me and I was hoping Detroit would be one of them, but they are more in position to want to bring in the young guys and let them play rather than contending."
Jazz, C's angle for Davis
The Deseret News suggests the Jazz could sign Glen Davis to an offer sheet if they don't match the offer sheet Paul Millsap signed with Portland or if they don't get a power forward back in any trade for Carlos Boozer.
Celtics president Danny Ainge is confident Davis will be back with the Celtics.
"We like him and want him back," Ainge told The Boston Globe. "We're trying to get Glen back. We're planning on having Glen back."
Robinson mulling Greek offer
Nate Robinson's agent told the New York Post yesterday that his client is considering an offer to play for Olympiakos. The Greek team may be willing to pay Robinson $5M a year.
"We will consider any team interested in Nate's services," Eric Goodwin said. "We have heard from the Greek team. They are very interested."
Knicks president Donnie Walsh told Newsday Tuesday that he had no information about the offer from Olympiakos other than the initial report by a Greek media outlet Monday night.
One team won't get Bosh
Tim Cowlishaw of The Dallas Morning News does not believe the Mavs have any shot of signing 2010 free agent Chris Bosh after speaking with the the power forward. His rationale is that Bosh loves Toronto and he plays the power forward position, which is occupied by Dirk Nowitzki.
"I love Toronto. And Toronto loves me," Bosh said.
