[NCAA] Top 10 QBs

Because why the fuck not right? Here's my list, which is based on college only. I have no intentions of assessing draft value in this list, I'm focused strictly on college-level production. I heavily weight TD/INT ratio, that's my favorite stat for judging QBs. I also take into account rushing yards, which explains why Jerrod Johnson is my #3 and Locker and Pryor are so high. After the top two, you could really make an argument for all these QBs to be in the third-spot, but Johnson's 30-8 ratio and 500 yards rushing last year put him over the rest of the field.

nice list, mine is slightly different:

1. Kellen Moore, Boise St. - duh
2. Jerrod Johnson, Texas A&M - really did tear up defenses last year
3. Andrew Luck, Stanford - needs to prove he can survive without Gerhart, but i think he will be up to the task
4. Jake Locker, Washington - did a lot with a little last year, must build off that this year
5. Christian Ponder, Florida State - did well being the general of a team in transition, should see improvements this year, as long as all of his WR's dont get kicked off the team
6. Andrew Dalton, TCU - needs more exposure to the nation, but he was very impressive at the Manning camp this summer
7. Ryan Mallett, Arkansas - still a bit too inconsistent at times, but has an absolute cannon for an arm
8. Case Keenum, Houston - might just be a system QB, but he runs it extremely well
9. Landry Jones, Oklahoma - forced into a tough situation last year and performed admirably; has a nice stache too
10. Jacory Harris, Miami - another year with Whipple will make him a better QB, but still has mental lapses at inopportune times

Omissions:
Colin Kaepernick, Nevada - impressed many scouts/counselors with his arm strength and accuracy at the Manning camp this summer, showing he is more than just a runner
Kyle Padron - similar to Keenum, just needs to play a full season
Russell Wilson, NC State - the only bright spot on an otherwise shitty team
Zach Collaros, Cincinnati - needs to play a full season, but impressed when
Pike was injured last year
Josh Nesbitt, Georgia Tech - he runs the offense well, but he can't put the team on his back and win a game
Robert Griffin III, Baylor - he injury makes me leery of putting him on the list, but if he plays like he did in 2008, he will be top 5
Terrelle Pryor, Ohio State - still too inconsistent; he played great in the rose bowl, but still had way too many mental lapses throughout the season and tends to force throws
Ricky Dobbs, Navy - b/c if you're gonna throw Nesbitt on there, might as well throw Dobbs on there too, since he (arguably) runs the offense better than Nesbitt

I don't really get the fascination with Ponder TBH. Maybe just because I've seen such a litany of Seminole QBs fall on their faces since Weinke left (Rix, X. Lee, Weatherford), I'm penalizing him unfairly, but it seems like Florida St. always has a talented QB who throws interceptions and gives the team spineless leadership.

Really didn't watch enough of Ponder last year to say one way or another, but his modest 14-7 TD/INT ratio and the program's recent QB history gives me cause for skepticism.

Rix might have but then again he's not nearly the quarterback that Colt Brennan is.

If David Carr didn't set records in the WAC, I know damn right these Florida State scrubs wouldn't have.

Carr played in a pro style offense that actually ran the ball sometimes... if Carr had gotten to wing it 60 times a game, he'd have set every WAC record too... thats a horrible comparison...

As for Luck, I really struggled with whether or not to include him. I think he's gonna be great this year, but he'll have to do it without Toby Gerhart, which will make a drastic difference. Plus he's only got 1 year under his belt, and his stats, while solid, weren't otherworldy. It was hard to justify him with just 13 TD passes last year when my main criteria was TD/INT ratio.

first of all, Brennan wasn't humiliated, his o-line scrwd him over and coudn't even stop a 3 man rush. If Hawaii had had a good o-line they would have handled Georgia, just like they handled every other team in '07, including Washington and Boise State.

while i agree that he has much to prove, i think he will step up and be one of the top QB's in the country, as he has the pedigree and the right coaches and players around him to make it happen...

No. Chris Rix was awful. Xavier Lee, while I thought would be awesome couldn't EVER learn the playbook and Weatherford got benched as a red shirt senior in favor of Ponder.
