Take into consideration this is the Bills offensive line vs the Ravens defensive line i think it's perfect. I just wanted to post this here incase some of you don't frequently check out operation sports forums.

Wow. That's really impressive. Fix up the linebacker play a bit and I may just pick this game up after all.


EDIT: What I would like to see.. and tell Ian over at OS or twitter or whatever, is how the pass rushing looks when he's on defense. Have him control the linebacker and show me how it looks from the other side, using the same teams in this example. If it looks the same, then I'd be floored.. but that's always been Madden's downfall is the AI playing in its own favor.

Are the drop backs forced?

meaning that the QB has to do the drop back animation instead of having control right when the ball touches his hands?

if it is forced, rolling out to the side apparently will not work, which is great.

Also, I see the ratings mattering more, that DT was absolutely destroying guys, Ngata or whoever he is, they couldn't block him for shit.

D-line misses alot of tackles, but they can tweek that looks like. Good to see even the best player on the field (LT on the bills) can't hold a guy forever, when the QB takes way too long to throw that guy eventually gets free, instead of the pocket lasting 5+ secs

That's a 4 man rush vs. 6 man protection, but it's a very poor offensive line vs. a dominant defensive rush. Looks great.

EDIT: Gah, I was thinking it was the same offensive play everytime. There's a few 5 man protections in there too. Still, this looks very good. I'd like to see more pressure off the edges considering it's Suggs vs. the league's worst starting LT. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

Yep. To my understanding you can't scramble until your QB finishes his drop back.

This was the case at Community Day, but not anymore. Now you need only wait until the first 3 steps have been taken, then you can take it over.

It's such an isolated situation with limited examples, but the logic for this particular play is perfect, and the sign that it's perfect is the RGs reactions.

Presnap we see the defense in a 3-4 predator look, which against BOB would be blocked like a 4-3 under.

LT takes the man covering him, WOLB
LG takes the man covering him, RE
C takes the man covering him, NT
RG's assignment is the SILB rush
RT takes the man covering him, LE

If the QB reads WILB blitz, he'll dump to the back going left. If the QB reads SOLB blitz, he'll dump to the back going right.

On virtually every play, the RG hesitates for the SILB blitz, then helps out on the Nose. In some cases, he swings over and help with the other rusher. This is either and awareness failure or an amazing awareness success. Either way, it's realistic and well done.

This leads me to a question: Do you have any clue how the delay routes work this year? I wonder if the backs will recognize if their defender is blitzing and will pick him up. And is it possible to set a RB's pattern to a delay pre-snap like the old games?

I like the blocking scheme that you mentioned above.. the problem is if it's consistently like that, there's easy ways to exploit it. For example:

Here, we see that BOTH of the previous mentioned hot reads are blitzing, yet both of the hot receivers are covered. Now if the lineman fail to adjust to the outside rush from the SOLB and the LE, the QB will get sacked everytime.

It's almost better against a defense like this to have the RT check the SOLB and the RG check the LE (basically treating the WOLB and the SOLB as linemen). If the SOLB doesn't blitz, the RT can always help out on the LE incase our RG needs to pass him off. The LT needs to take the WOLB like you mentioned (if the WOLB blitzes he has to take him.. if he doesn't, he should try to help with the RE so the LG could pass him off if he needs to). This way both of the interior LBs are the hot reads and it's easier for the QB to see the field, and it's also easier for a RB to step up and make the head on block as opposed to stopping the SOLB who's flying around the corner.

But now I'm just rambling talking football... the point is, how consistent is the line play (do different teams have different schemes? Does the TE effect any schemes?), and how are the delay routes working this year (if you know)? Thanks!
