New TV/Monitor I'm Buying

I'm buying this to play my PS3 on...

It's 1080p full HD. That's what I want my picture to be, full 1080p. So my question is, do I need any extra cords or anything. I got an 80 GB PS3 like 2 weeks ago, so I'm assuming it comes with everything in the box that you (ps3 owners) also got in your box. So do I need any special cords or anything?

My PS3 didnt come withe high defenition cables. If thats what your asking.

Yeah but you're hooking it up to a TV, that's essentially a computer monitor.

JRC, that monitor is cheaper so I wouldn't have to save up any more money lol.

First of all, 1080p is pointless unless the screen is over 40inches. Second, most PS3 games are 720p natively so you won't get 1080p except on a few select games. Make sure the monitor can handle HDCP. Also for cords and hookups use this website.

Cords are like 10$ and not $100 like in the stores. You are going to need a HDMI cable and probably a HDMI->DVI adapter since the monitor will probably be in DVI. Of course you can get a HDMI monitor if you want.

And what about Blu-Ray on my PS3, will not having full 1080p affect that?

1080p and 1080i isn't what I'm talking about. If I'm getting full 1080, it's gonna be Progressive, which is what the P stands for. I stands for Interlace. Action and sports are much better on progressive.

I was asking, Premier said you don't need 1080p if your screen isn't over 40 inches, meaning you can settle for any resolution over 720. I was wondering why 1080p is pointless if you don't have a screen over 40 inches. Is that just a cocky preference or what?

On a TV size lower than 40 your eyes visually won't see a difference. I am just relaying info from AVSforums who know their stuff. Anyways I also said its pointless because most PS3 games are 720p anyways so it won't matter the game will be in 720p and not 1080 all because your TV supports it. If you can get a 720p tv for cheaper dont hesitate but you can't go wrong getting a 1080p TV. Do you get what I am saying?

I got a 32 budget VIZIO that is 720p native resolution.

No doubt that component cables look great, but HDMI is the way to go. You will see a noticable difference. So IMO you really do need HDMI for the best picture quality.

You need HDMI to do 1080i/p anyways. component is only 720p
