I think you can make a strong case for Billichick or Payton but Reid turned the Chiefs from laughing stock to playoff contender in one season with basically the same talent that was there the year prior.

Ron Rivera. Talk of him being out last season, turned around the Panthers in one year to beat the Saints out for the division.

Rex Ryan is a really close second. To get that team to 8-8 is extremely impressive. Now lets see what can happen if they actually get a quarterback worth a damn.

Gotta go with Rivera. The dude was basically fired after week 4 and many of their losses in close games during his tenure can be attributed to his coaching decisions. From one week to the next, he completely switched up his MO, became "Riverboat Ron" and voila, they went on a great run.

I think Reid, Payton, and Chip Kelly all have really strong cases, though. Reid will probably win.

While I do agree with that, the fact that Reid turned around the Chiefs in one year, Rivera saved his Panthers career and Chip Kelly coming over to the NFL and succeeding, Carroll is on the outside looking in. He definitely deserves it, but a lot of the voters are going to look at the "feel good" stories. Also forgot Payton's comeback and turning around the team.

The biggest reason Pete Carroll won't win is because Seattle was expected to be one of the league' s top teams. Barring some historic achievement those coaches generally don't win COY. The guys that usually win are successful with teams expected to suck.

I voted for Bill Belichick, but I understand the sentiment toward Ron Rivera. IMO, Belichick did an unreal job this year, losing both his tight ends, Vince Wilfork, Mayo, Wes Welker, etc... OK, he has Tom Brady, but Brady was playing with a crap supporting cast and still won the division easy.

I love what the Eagles did this year, as a fan, but we won the Full On Retard division. Chip needs a playoff win (or two) to change my mind on this.
