For the first time, NFL players get their say in determining the top players in today's game with NFL Network's newest series The Top 100: Players of 2011 debuting Saturday, April 30 at 8:00 PM ET, immediately following live day three coverage of the 2011 NFL Draft. Brought to you by the award-winning producers at NFL Films, the 10-part series showcases the exclusive rankings of players determined by those that know them best - current NFL players. Following the series debut April 30, the series continues in its regular time of Sundays at 8:00 PM ET, beginning May 8.

The Top 100: Players of 2011 is a new annual series airing every offseason on NFL Network that gives current players the opportunity to vote for the top 100 playmakers today, counting down from 100 to 1. With 10 players featured in each episode, each player on the list is saluted by an individual close to the subject, from a coach to a rival on the field.

"There is no better group of individuals to assess the talent and ability of today's NFL players than the players themselves. Players are the ultimate on-field experts," said Mark Quenzel, NFL Network Senior Vice President of Programming & Production. "After the players have their say, The Top 100: Players of 2011 - Reactions gives voice to the fans with live, real-time commentary of viewers shared via NFL.com and social media platforms."

Born from the same concept of the critically-acclaimed series, The Top 100: NFL's Greatest Players, the producers of NFL Films utilized the league's most dynamic and recognizable names in the game today to assemble their list, a task usually reserved for Hall of Fame voters and media.

Immediately following each episode at 9:00 PM ET will be The Top 100: Players of 2011 - Reactions, a one-hour recap show that takes a closer look at the countdown with analysis and commentary from NFL Network analysts, special guests and fans. The show will spark live, interactive debate and discussions on the countdown through the use of NFL.com, Facebook and Twitter where viewers can pose questions to NFL Network analysts, participate in online discussions or simply comment on each episode. The Top 100: Players of 2011 - Reactions also features a viewer's comment ticker that continuously scrolls fan comments posted online throughout the show.

With an emphasis on creating an interactive experience with viewers, as well providing additional complementary content to "The Top 100 series, NFL.com is the place for fans to access exclusive content surrounding the series. An array of bonus "Top 100" content will be available for fans including never-before-seen interviews with players and extended chats with "Top 100" contributors. In addition, starting Monday, April 18 through Friday, June 3, fans can weigh in with their Top 100 players of 2011 in an online fan vote on NFL.com. During every The Top 100: Players of 2011 - Reactions show, the corresponding fan vote from the countdown will also be revealed.

LOL @ McNabb on this shit and wow at T.O. being ranked so low. They also said that there were a3 or 4 teams with only 1 player on the list. Washington and Cincinnati were 2 they named so we know Chad Ocho Cinco and Brian Orackpo are not on the list. I know Mike Williams :smug: is number 83 and Freeman is somewhere on the list. Who will be snubbed, who deserves to make it and where? In addition to Freeman and Williams, without being a homer I say Talib and our LT Donald Penn should make it.

Its current although Im sure body of work was factored into some of these rankings, also these are rankings according to current NFL players. They voted on their peers. Im surprised there isnt more talk about this.

How can anyone shit on T.O? He still shits on most DB's in the league and produces anywhere he goes. He definitely deserves to be on the list. McNabb though, GTFO!

On a snap by snap, game by game basis. He is inconsistent. Still a good receiver but he's not one of the best at his position in the league anymore.
 
TO fits well on this list IMO. He looked pretty decent in CIN last year. As far as McNabb, After the performance last season, he shouldnt be anywhere on this list.

considering most WRs are only putting up numbers about 5 or 6 times a games, you can say that about almost any receiver. he was leading the league in receiving yards before he got hurt, he deserves to at least be ranked.

as for the Giants i think Eli, Nicks, Osi, Tuck, Bradshaw (although i disagree), and Snee will make the rankings.

McFadden - led Oakland's 6th rated offense despite having crap at QB. Had 1157 yards rushing in only 13 games, also had 47 receptions for 507 yards (a 10+ avg for a RB!). Had 10 TDs. 5th in the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

Owens -a player on Cincy's 22nd rated offense. 72 receptions for 983 yards and 9 TDs. Nice, but not really top 100 material, and in no way is it better than McFadden's 2010 season.

This is a player voted list. I'm sure some guys are voting based on career performance and others are voting on recent performance. There isn't some stat geek in a back room inventing an equation to measure RB's up to Left Guards. I think Owens being in the bottom 10% points to the fact players are for the most part voting on who is the best player today.

Owens is still good today though. You list his stats, that's fine and good but remember that was over just 13 games, and in his 13th game he had just 1 for 22 yds so throw that one out really. Fact is Owens was putting in work and was leading the NFL in yards, and was nearly on pace for a 100 reception season. I know you understand stats don't tell you the whole story. Owens will block and block with the best of them, he gives CB's fits because he's willing to go over the middle making his range of route running much wider that most, and you have to admit that teams have to gameplan for this guy still.

Now I don't know about McFadden being so low on this list either, all I can say is there is only enough room on the list for 100 players, and if his peers don't respect him enough now to put him higher they soon will.

I have no idea why McNabb is on this list though. I think for a shitty QB he's had a lot of highlights and wow moments so maybe that's why players voted for him, but he's still a shitty QB IMO.

Id prefer coaches and Gms take. Players never seem to know wth they are talking about.
Always the last to know when a player is done , always the first to overrate a guy that got the better of them , half these guys dont even watch any games or footage outside of that weeks opponents.
