Nintendo Emulation Olympics

Thought we could have some fun with this, as I've been craving to play Super Mario 2 and it gave me an idea.

For all those interested, we can run an Olympics of old NES games using the computer emulation software NESticle. Using 10-15 random nominated Nintendo solo player games, we can all compete to get the highest score in each game to crown the ultimate Nintendo gaming champion.

Would have to make some rules as to how much time you have to achieve a top score in a game, and what type of documentation is required (probably just a few screen caps) but it should be fun either way.

If anyone's interested we can hammer out the details and nominate some games to play.

I'd be in. I'm guessing we are on the honor system because of the ability to use Save/Load State to manipulate games.

Here are some options:

- Blades of Steel (largest point disparity wins)
- Track and Field II (any of the events)

See if it will work online, I know some of those NES emulators have netplay. I've played N64 with some other VSNers here before so I know netplay works.

Basically an honor system. If you really have to cheat in this just to get e-credit (no real prize) you need a new hobby in life.

It will be all solo player games, so at least for this round it won't be head to head online. High scores in games would be the measure.

I think NESticle lets you play in a tabbed window, correct?

If so, we can have users start in non-full screen mode at a certain time, screen cap it, limit the game to a one hour session, then have them screen cap it again after an hour for their score.
