Sources say EA Sports planned to outsource the game and give in-house team two years to make next-gen version.
The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series is staying in the clubhouse next year. That's according to Kotaku sources, who told the site that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 is not in the works for any platform.


Electronic Arts reportedly planned to outsource Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 and give the in-house team at EA Tiburon two years to make Tiger Woods PGA Tour 16 for the PlayStation 4 and next Xbox. However, when CEO John Riccitiello resigned last month, this plan was dropped to save costs, the sources said.

The fate of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise is unknown. An EA Sports representative told GameSpot, "We have no comment regarding Tiger Woods PGA Tour 15 and we are focused on delivering a great Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 experience."

EA will report earnings for its fourth quarter fiscal year 2013 next week, where the company is expected to comment on the recent waves of layoffs at the outfit.

If there is no Tiger Woods PGA Tour game next year, it will be the first time since 1999 that EA has not launched a new entry in the series.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 shipped last month for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It includes a number of franchise-firsts, including night golf, LPGA support, and a Legends of the Majors mode that allows players to travel back in virtual time to compete against icons like Bobby Jones and Jack Nicklaus.

Are the sales of the series slipping? Granted I do not play it often, but it seems to be a pretty solid game that is well reviewed. That being the case, I can't imagine they would risk upsetting the gravy train if it were selling well.

It's not the series, it's part of EA's layoffs. They axed 10% of their 9K staff.

i heard it was to be outsourced for next year so the devs could focus on the next gen version the following year. but that doesnt make sense if the next gen stuff comes out this year. Dont those new systems come out this fall?

Yeah, but doesn't Tiger Woods usuually release in like March?

This game doesn't need to be updated yearly. IMO, they should release a new one every 3 years while continuing to offer DLC to freshen up the game.

The i only thing more annoying than real life golf, is video game golf simulation. Like Ghost said, Hot Shots is the ish.

I agree with Dave. Especially more so with Tiger than other games because there a fewer new characters being added into the game. Honestly the game has really gone downhill with the peak being Tiger Woods 12. They don't even include the major golfers anymore. There's no Phil Mickelson (Pretty obvious why) and this year they removed Adam Scott. Wanna guess who they replaced Adam Scott with? Marshall Faulk of the St. Louis fucking Rams and gave him straight 40's all the way down. What was the point of even adding him? Fucking stupid

Agree. I think adding celebrity golfers is pretty stupid. I have never used one and probably never will, unless they offer a Kate Upton-like celebrity that I can bring to an offline career.
