Non-1st Round Rookies that will play big and important roles in 2010

Koa Misi, OLB, Dolphins
- Dolphins rid themselves of Joey Porter and Jason Taylor leaving Cameron Wake and rookie Koa Misi to provide the edge rush that is so vital to the Nolan scheme. With issues with CB depth and safeties with questionable coverage ability, the Dolphins will need the edge rushers to step up big to make the playoffs.

John Conner, FB, NY Jets
- Going to be the most important cog in the success of a Thomas Jones-less Jets run game. He has already taken the starting job away from Tony Richardson, Conner is getting rave reviews at Jets camp and is a horse at FB.

Mike Williams and Arrelious Benn, WR, Buccaneers
- Williams is already the starter, Benn is soon approaching. A slightly new-look Buccs passing game will be important if this team is going to be pushing for a playoff spot and if Josh Freeman is to develop at all.​

Morgan Burnett should find himself at starting strong safety ahead of Atari Bigby this year. Picking off Peyton Manning last night was a hell of a start for the kid. Almost picked Peyton earlier in the game too.

Bigby is still out, and will probably be out for the start of the season. Burnett is playing like a stud in his absence this preseason. Guy was ready to play back in Rookie Camp. Continues to get better and will be a LARGE contributor.

Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez have been tearing it up in preseason. The Pats haven't had a reliable pass catching tight end since Ben Coates.

I play a franchise with 2 of my buddies. My roommate is the Pats and the guy catches fucking everything. 3 & 15, just throw it in Gronkowski's general area and he somehow superman catches it.

He looks like just as much of a stud IRL too. Hernandez is no slouch either.

For the Titans:

Damian Williams, WR (3rd round)

- Reminds some in camp of Derrick Mason, hopefully he can live up to the billing. He caught the ball really well in last week's pre-season game against Arizona and will start off the season probably as the #4 receiver. The future of Kenny Britt and Williams as the starters is bright, but the way the Titans shuffle receivers will give the former USC standout a chance to make an impact this year.​

Alterraun Verner, CB (5th round)

- He was the pick after the Titans traded LenDale White and Kevin Vickerson to the Seahawks. He has been one of the most impressive players in training camp for Tennessee and has shown good cover skills in the pre-season. The starting job beside Cortland Finnegan is up for grabs between him and Jason McCourty and I think Verner will eventually win the job.​

Marc Mariani, WR, Montana (7th round)

- Everything I've seen from him has impressed me. I haven't seen a dropped pass when he's with the second-stringers and he's done a great job returning the ball. If he makes the team (likely will), Mariani should give the Titans something they missed horribly throughout last season; a quality kick and punt returner.​

Terrence Cody...2nd rounder...he will be starting by mid-season and teaming with Ngata to give opposing interior linemen fits. As I said in another thread...I wasn't sold on the pick when it happened, but he has been a monster through camp/preseason...conditioning hasn't been an issue and at times he's been unblockable.

Daryl Washington - Should be Dansby's incumbent at the WILB position.

Williams, Benn and Brian Price on our DL alongside 1st rounder Gerald McCoy. We have the potential to get some real value out of this draft class. I also want to see how Dekota Watson and Myron Lewis will contribute. Bowen, our 7th round rookie punter, is already a starter.

Im not a Rams fan but with Donnie Avery going down for the rest of the season, Mardy Gilyard who was a 4th round pick is going to get ample playing time and probably put up a respectable season and help make Sam Bradford's job a lot easier.

For the Patriots I'd say Spikes, Gronkowski, and Hernandez, Spikes is looking like he may be starting next to Mayo this year, Gronk could be starting as well or at least see plenty of time on the field, and Hernandez should make an impact in the passing game,

As for other teams I'm sure there are many you could name but I think Dexter McCluster will prove to be very valuable for the Chiefs this year.

Lamarr Houston has had a great camp and preseason so far, showcasing his combination of power and speed to get the quarterback. He will be a big part of the DL rotation and should definitely see a lot of action in passing situations.

I watched him last week for when they played the Bears. He played well, but Kam stole the show and that took away from Houston getting any cred...

I watched him last week for when they played the Bears. He played well, but Kam stole the show and that took away from Houston getting any cred...

This is the first time the Raiders have had multiple players that can put pressure on the QB for as long as I can remember. We had Derrick Burgess a few years ago but he was a one trick pony and nobody to help him.

Going to be interesting to see how good Nnamdi is this year with legitimate pass rushers to help him out.

Now, I'm not liking this past Giants draft class. Chad Jones turned out to be a waste of a pick, Dillard may be a back-up caliber LB in the NFL and Petrus may actually turn into a nice guard in a couple seasons.

However, they did end up getting their punter in the 7th round, Matt Dodge. He needs to be more consistent but he has a rocket for a leg.

How about the receiver Victor Cruz, undrafted FA, may make the team.

Pat Angerer - from the Colts. Has looked solid in the games i've seen.

Polian seems to have the magic touch with linebackers, draft 'em, plug them in, let some other idiot team overpay for them after 3 or 4 years and just pick another up on the cheap in the draft.
