Esjay gave me the idea to make this thread... there's a solid core of us who still play this game, and IMO its the best sports video game I've ever played. I borrowed NCAA Basketball 10 from a friend the other day, and I took it back to him the next day because of how much better College Hoops was. The graphics are better on 10 obviously... but 2k8 has the deepest legacy mode I've seen, the little things about the game are everywhere, the weekly shows and the selection sunday shows are unmatched.

I'm in a career legacy, Currently in year 6.

In year 1, I started off with Texas State. Went 15-12 in the regular season, finishing 4th in the conference, but then had a run through the conference tournament that finished with my Conference POY SG Brandon Rush (He was 6-7... beast) knocking down a buzzer beating 3 to beat Sam Houston State in the conference title game. Got blown out 112-52 by #1 seed Duke in the first round, they went on to win the national title.

In the off-season prior to year 2, I landed a 5 star JUCO C, Tyler Cain. Dude was 7-1, 260 pounds, and I had Rush back to pair him with. He carried my squad... went 22-5 (16-0) and won the regular season title, and then stormed through my conference tournament. I got a 6 seed, and won two games thanks to Cain just going off and made it to the Sweet 16. Villanova blew me out of the water... pretty sure I lost something to the tune of 85-40, Scotty Reynolds had 30+ points. Cain was a first-team All-American and Mid-Major player of the year, averaging 26 points, and I believe 13 boards per game. Duke won back-to-back national championships.

In the off-season, Gary Williams retired at Maryland, and Mark Few from Gonzaga took the job. I took the job at Gonzaga and walked into a great situation in year 3. Austin Daye (current NBA player), and current Bulldogs Steven Gray and Robert Sacre made up the core of my team, and we went 26-2 (13-1) in the regular season. We breezed through the conf. tournament, and got a #1 seed. We went on a big run to the Final Four, where I met Duke again, and took one of the chin to the tune of 77-54. Daye had 32 of my 54 points in the game, and he carried us through the tourney with performances of: 27, 26, 38, 30, and 32 points. Cincinnati beat Duke to win the national title, ending Duke's run.

Year 4, I have all 5 starters coming back, and I brought in a true frosh PG who has 97 spd, 97 quickness, and 95 handles. Thrust him into the starting lineup, and had my redshirt freshman sharpshooter finally get on the court. We dominated... ended up going 28-0 through the regular season, and cruised to the conference tournament title once again. Got the #1 overall seed, and went to the Sweet 16 where I got a matchup with #4 seed Kansas. In what is truly the worst loss I've ever experienced in a video game, we lost 82-77, to go 32-1. Lost Daye, Gray, and Sacre as well as 3 of my top 4 guys off the bench, but I brought in the nations #3 recruiting class.

Delt with a young team in year 5, and we had some growing pains. I struggled through the non-con, and early on in the conference schedule before I hit a groove late in the year and won a share of the conference title at 23-8 (11-3). Came from down big at the half to beat Pepperdine for the conference tournament. Got a #12 seed, and 5 seed Miami beat me 82-77 in the first round of the tournament.

Jim Calhoun retired at UConn in the off-season, and I was the #1 choice there so I took the job. He left me with a ton of quality frontcourt players (I could legimately go 8-9 deep there), but only 2 total guards and 1 actual SF. I'm 7-0 in year 1, with a win over #1 Michigan State 70-67 early in the year.

The fact that I can remember all this off the top of my head should tell you how great this game is..

A lot of people play this game still. Check the basketball gaming forum time to time. Also a lot of people post their legacies in the NCAA Dynasties section of the forum. I have updated Rosters and am playing as Duke in my 1st season. Im 15-0 so far, about to play NC State and then UNC.

I'm in year 30(?) of my current Legacy (who knows how many I've been through since 2007). Right now I'm at Texas waiting for Dixon to retired (dude's like 74 and not retiring). I've won 4 National Championships. Been to 13 Final Fours. Took both Dartmouth and Long Beach State to the Final Four. Won two Nat'l Champs at UNC before moving to a terrible Cuse team for a challenge (79 overall, 8-21 previous season). Signed 5 five star recruits (#1 Center, #1 PF, #2 PG, #4 SF, #6 SG). Got fired my 3rd season right when those players were blossoming, really pissed me off. At Texas for past 15 odd years, won 2 Championships.

I usually just sim, rarely play.

I'm in year 4 with SFNY. I player-lock with the PG.

Year 1 we were terrible. Finished 7-22 (half play/half sim). I never played a practice game before the legacy, so I really struggled the first few games while I got used to the controls.

Year 2 we improved, mainly because everybody worth anything came back. We had a terrible front court (our starting #4 and #5 couldn't combine for a double double), but we had a few shooters. When they got hot and started drilling 3's we won big. When they were cold, we got blown out. Won a game in the conference tourney, ending the year 17-14.

Year 3 major improvements through recruiting. We added a 3 star SF, Lynwood Davidson, who I convereted to a PF who was a solid 8/8 player and regularly getting a double double by the end of the year. Also brough in a 3 star SG, Sampson, who eneded up starting and scoring just under 10 a game. These two, coupled with PG Caddell who managed 18 a game, backup SG Rocco Rubbino's 10 a game and SF Perunicic getting 12 a game. Unfortunately, we were still very weak up front, and didn't have a center worth anything. Great regular season, winning 21 games, but we lost in the conference tournament when we ran into Robert Morris who had a dominant center and strong defense.

In year 4 we are the strongest team in the league (ratings wise) but we've struggled early with a tough schedule and an inability to get good play at PG. We have 2 very good SG, a transfer, Elmore, who's 77ovr and 6'5 and Sampson at 70ovr. Neither have good handles or passing ratings and it's taken an adjustment period.

The bright side is we have some legit play at center now. We brought in 2 recruits to help. One is a 7 foot center, Mulligan, who at 62 ovr is a full 7 points better than the incumbents. We also added another big SF, Shaun Davenport (6'6). With Perunicic starting at SF, Davenport (75ovr) has to start, so he goes to PF and Davidson (6'7) can start at center. While Davidson is a bit small, he's a vast improvement scoring wise and can pull some boards. Mulligan has been solid pulling 15 minutes a game (with Davenport going to SF, Davidson back to PF).

I'm 10-3 (3-0) now and ranked #10 in the nation... lost to my old squad Gonzaga when they came to UConn, it was a 10 point loss when I couldn't shut them down beyond the arc. Got a road date with #16 Villanova next.

I was looking at my old old school, Texas State, the one I started the closed legacy with. Their best player just happens to be the last scholarship player I recruited there, he came in as a 3* and as the prized member of my recruiting class before I left for Gonzaga. Now, he's a senior and the best player in the conference. I love looking back and seeing things like this.

Im in year 1 just started. Might need to turn down the difficulty. Im playing on the hardest one and Ive lost by double digits first 3 games and Ive never even heard of 2 of the schools before but thye blew me out cause my boys cant hit anything from the perimeter.

I worked my way up... started on All-conference, moved to All-American and I've been on MOP since I got hired at Gonzaga.

From my experiences the sliders work the same on virtually all levels, with the difficulties changing obviously. I've been using the same sliders since I started besides a few tweaks here and there and I got great games, blowout wins and losses, close wins and losses, etc.

1st Season -Northern Colorado Bears- 19-12 NIT (2nd round)
2nd Season -Northern Colorado Bears- 20-10 Big Sky Champs (First Round Tournament loss to UCLA)

Just took a job at Missouri St. on my way to hopefully bigger and better things.

Yea the big men on this team are sick and they have a nice SG. I'm 4-0 thus far, but I haven't played anything other then Mid-Major teams, soooo...


My first test comes when I play Ok St.

Recruiting in this game is awesome, I love how you can recruit Highschool freshmen and shit. By the time they become seniors they are 5 stars.

Yeah I've been recruiting this center from overseas for a while and he started as a 2 star and he's a JR now and he's a 3 star. I expect him to be a 4 star by next year.

Just played probably the greatest game.

Playing at Ohio State, I've pulled off 5 wins in a row, including wins over ranked UConn, Illinois, and Minnesota. The first half is pretty even the first 14 minutes or so but Ohio State still had a little lead (I play 18). Then my SO PG Lewis Jackson goes up for a layup and comes down and has to leave the game. I look at the injury, Broken Ankle, 39 days. My only option to come off the bench is a red shirt Freshman SG, John Hart. Not the best for your team to put in but you'll have to deal with it. I end up being down 1 at halftime.

Second half starts, pretty even till about the 8 minute mark, where Ohio State makes a huge run on my bench. They end up being up by about 14 with 4:40 left, when Hart ends up getting a steal, and dishing it to an open shooter for a three. Next possession he hits a three, and then my starters come in. My freshman center hit two threes, and a foot on the line jumper in about 50 seconds. I end up coming all the way back when Chris Kramer gets a steal with 42 seconds left and hits the game tying layup.

Ohio State has the ball, just milking clock, and the once the clock hits 12 they start attacking the hoop, and then they dish it out to BJ Mullens for a three . So 5.9 seconds left and I have the ball. Throw it to E'Twaun Moore, who finds a WIDE OPEN Chris Kramer for three, but he missed it.

In OT, I just took over, Hummel hit two threes, Kramer got two layups and there were my 10 points. 102-96 win over the #5 team in the Nation.
