Jeff Fisher has already put his stamp on this team.
The Rams play with energy, are very chippy, and play hard for four quarters (something they never did for Spags). The defense flies around, gets in your face, and quite frankly, deliver plenty of cheap shots. It's not my preferred style of football, but I have to admit it's nice to finally see a Rams team with some energy and fire. Over time, i'm sure players like Cortland Finnegan and Jo Lon Dunbar, who do too much talking for my taste, will get under my skin (Finnegan already has), but for now it's a refreshing change.
It's odd to see a Rams team come into a game with a plan. This team has 16 rookies and is still devoid of talent, but Fisher and his staff are getting every drop of effort out of this undermanned bunch. It has me excited for when Fisher finishes turning over the roster and has players that can play. It's no secret that Spags put together one of the worst rosters in modern NFL history, and it will take some time to fix that, but Fisher & GM Les Snead wasted no time purging, cutting or trading many of the recent Spags draft picks and ex-Giants/Eagles players during camp. It was nice to see, and confirmation that the Rams were fielding bums for the last three years.
This team will likely suffer a few blowouts against stronger teams, but they will also knock off a few favorites along the way, and play hard every week. Even down 20-7 against the Redskins, you never had the feeling of hopelessness that was so common during the two previous regimes. The Rams are relevant again.
