I really, really loved the league in those days. It was before the fantasy geeks took over and dicatated how the networks covered the sport, so the screen wasnt cluttered with a bunch of different distracting graphics and tickers. Pre & post game shows actually broke down games, so you would get legitimate analysis instead of four bafoons laughing at nothing in particular and speaking in one sentance soundbites.

Sounds like Ron Pitts was the analyst for that game. He does play by play now. He's very good, but he's perpetually stuck on the 5,6,7 FOX team and always does shit games.

Ron Pitts?

I like him. To me, he blows away guys like Dick Stockton (drunk, butchers names, doesnt know the players), Kevin Harlan (annoying voice, gets excited too easily), and the intolerable Joe Buck.

Pitts has a smooth delivery, gets excited when appropriate, and as a former player, it's like having two analysts in the booth. The worst thing about Pitts, is he's paired with John Lynch (who, to be fair, is much improved since last season when he was really bad).

Something about Fox that always bugged me. Its like all there games were darker and muddier than CBS.
There announcers all started to sound alike for a long while.


Big pads , fullbacks getting touches , lack of on screen overlays. Yes big big difference.

I dont even know what pregame shows to watch anymore. They all have the Fox style which went super overboard when Strahan joined.

I do like most of the overlays ((first down,LOS markers)) but the visual people either suck or are getting shit direction because most of them are WAY too big , too intrusive , and are never off screen. Does anyone really need a 2ND AND 6 mega sized arrow on the field while MLB scores scroll at the top ?? This is NFL not Bloomberg news.
