Owner's 'gut feel': Revis won't play for Jets

IMO, Revis is doing the right thing.
He absolutely has to get paid before he ever steps on the field again. All he has to do is look at former teammate Leon Washington.
Woody Johnson has to step to the plate here, if he wants to get a Super Bowl. Revis is the best CB in the league and should be paid as such.

For the life of me, I don't know why Tom Brady has put up with the shit he's dealing with in New England. If I were him, I'd say to Robert Kraft: "Listen fuckface, I get more than Sam Bradford or I don't step on the field for the Patriots again."

If Revis ever wants to win a Superbowl this is his best chance too. He wants to be paid more than Nnamdi Asomugha and quite frankly not knowing what the CBA will be like and still overpaying for a player doesn't sound like a good business decision to me. Nnamdi Asomugha should not be making 15 mil a season.

Tom Brady cares about the Superbowl more than anything else is why. He's been their 4 times and obviously wants to get back more than anything.

Let's be serious. He wants to be paid 16 mil on average instead of 12 or something like that. Thats a little ridiculous. He should take a 1 year "Band-Aid" like Chris Johnson did except get more than just an extra million. Then once the CBA is dealt with then they can give him his 10 year 160 million dollar contract with 60 million guaranteed. Let's be honest, this is probably the type of deal he wants.

Revis and Johnson have no business being on the field without some serious up front money.

They are playing two of the most replaceable positions in football.
Both are coming off arguably the best Off/Def performances this decade.

Brady has earned the right to hold out for whatever he asks. But at least hes on his 3rd or 4th contract at this point. Second contracts are the most important you need to milk as much as you can.

That said my opinion and there opinion of serious up front money are vastly different.

I think a CBA will make shit consistent, but I think overall the price hike will continue for at least a minute. No kind of returning to the old way of paying guys.

Owners secretly dont want to pay old vets $$ and have used the cap as an excuse to cut aging players without backlash.

I still dont see the middle of the pack player getting any significant pay raise unless things go capless.

Owners wanting to go 18 games would demand salaries be around 20% higher than they already are.

Too many people thinking $$$$ and eager to "revamp" the financial system.....and not enough worried about game integrity or smart enough to realize the financial structure is the primary reason the NFL is what it is today.

That's always something I've found intriguing. Quarterbacks requiring more money has created a system in the league wherein the pass is heavily leaned on and quarterbacks are asked to take less and less risks with their bodies, inflating scores (which fans apparently like) and removing the need for athleticism at the position.

The on-field product creates the pay structure, and the pay structure determines the on-field product.

It's really quite something.

And with people getting paid out of their minds, guys play lights-out in a contract year, but never live up to the contract money they inevitably get because it's not required of them.

Game integrity is destroyed, the product is watered down, and all in the interest of money.

I really don't understand contract negotiations anymore, the team presents an offer, the agent presents an offer and as long as both of those are realistic, you should be meet somewhere close to the middle and you're done.
