"Goodfellas Stars to Team Up with Al Pacino for New Scorsese Gangster Movie"

Bada bing! It's enough to make the toughest made man fall to his knees and weep with joy. The latest rumour from tinseltown is that not only are Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro working together again - 15 years after their last collaboration Casino - but also that Al Pacino and Joe Pesci may be getting involved.

Scorsese and De Niro have been in talks for a couple of years to get The Irishman off the ground. The story is based on the life of Frank Sheeran (nicknamed 'The Irishman"), a mob hitman with apparently 25 murders to his name.

The book on which the film will be based is by Charles Brandt, a close friend of Sheeran, with the screenplay written by Steve Zaillian (who penned Scorsese's 2002 epic Gangs of New York).

Although the project looked as if it had stalled, Deadline is now reporting that it's back on, with Pacino and Pesci currently in negotiations to take roles. Pesci has appeared with DeNiro in Raging Bull, Casino and (his career-best) Goodfellas. Pacino famously teamed up with De Niro for 1995's Heat, having previously starred in, but not appeared together in The Godfather Part II.

One thing's for sure, if this meeting of the wiseguys comes off it'll make this year's toughfest The Expendables look pretty much ummm... expendable.

I can't even watch Pacino anymore. Ever since Any Given Sunday, it's been 'MJ on the Wizards' bad.

I'd like for this to be good, but the shit that was Righteous Kill tells me it probably won't. DeNiro is my all time favorite actor, and Pacheenz is my second or third favorite. Unfortunately, the reality is that both are turrible now.

Wow. I had no idea this was an old thread and was confused as to how this had just broken when I saw the trailer for that movie when I saw Moneyball in theaters. Anyway, I await this with tempered optimism. Huge Bobby D mark for life but he's MJ on the Wizards at this point.

Martin Scorsese may be challenging Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's title for Busiest Man in Hollywood.

According to Deadline.com, Scorsese is set to team up with his current male muse, Leonardo DiCaprio, on "The Wolf of Wall Street." The film is based on the memoir by Jordan Belfort, a former stock broker who wrote about his successes, hard partying and eventual conviction for security fraud and money laundering.

"Wolf" will be the fifth collaboration for Marty and Leo, who previously worked together on "Shutter Island," "The Departed," "Gangs of New York" and "The Aviator."

For those keeping count, this film is the fourth project Scorsese has in the works. In addition to "Wolf," Marty is set to direct crime drama "The Snowman," based on the Jo Nesbo book; the period piece "Silence," starring Daniel-Day Lewis; and a Frank Sinatra biopic.
