Restricted free agent WR Emmanuel Sanders' one-year offer sheet with the Patriots is worth just $2.5 million.
The Steelers are up against the cap, but it's an easily matchable offer if they're serious about keeping the fourth-year pro. They have until Sunday to decide. The Steelers will get New England's third-round pick (No. 91) if they let Sanders walk. Sanders would likely sign a long-term extension upon becoming a Patriot. The Steelers have a sterling track record of finding young receivers, and could conceivably select Sanders' replacement in this month's draft if they let him go.
Patriots agreed to terms with WR Julian Edelman on a one-year contract.
Edelman briefly flashed difference-making ability in the slot last season, stealing snaps from Wes Welker before a Week 3 hand injury railroaded his season. He finished with just 21 catches for 235 yards and three touchdowns in nine games, but averaged 15.5 yards per punt return and brought one to the house for the third straight season. Edelman will start the season behind Danny Amendola, Donald Jones and possibly Emmanuel Sanders, but he'll have an impact. Amendola has missed 20 games over the last two seasons.
