Paul Heyman on the MMA Hour

Definately need to check this out later.

Just about every company in the game (and not just wrestling) has, at minimum, sent feelers for Heyman to come on board over the last few years.
 
I still don't think TNA is the right move for Heyman, not unless he gets everything he's asking for. I don't konw that Heyman is the right move for TNA either - while he could do good things for them, Dixie Carter is going to see him as another "savior" and probably not give him enough time to really effect changes. TNA wants the WWE's #1 spot and they are realitically years away from really challenging the WWE, if they every do.
 
TNA at this point...is a damaged product and brand name...I'm not sure you can build that thing up to a spot where they'd give you a 50% of the ratings the WWE gets or another 10% of the market share of the industry, which isnt what they want (although, that'd be a massive success at this point for that company).
 
watch the interview....he explains exactly what is wrong with TNA's "direction" and just has some very interesting insight on the MMA world.
 
TNA has tremendous televsion support from a network that has proven it can be a successful partner for a similar product, and they have rich ownership with a willingness to spend money to the point of running in the red. These are the two main factors that sunk ECW -- a lack of strong enough TV partners, and cash.

Heyman has stated that he would not push anyone over 40 (that includes RVD). He has kept up with the business, and knows who the young stars are (both in TNA and elsewhere). He also stated that he wouldnt do another "reset", and would slowly kill current storylines while using the older talent to put over the younger talent.

He clearly has a plan, it's just a matter if the Carter's are willing to can Russo (who Dixie loves), aand give Heyman the part ownership he has demanded. Heyman made stars out of talentless hacks out of the likes of Sandman & Johnny Grunge, I shudder to think what he can do with people like Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness, Matt Morgan, Kazarian, Styles, Machine Guns, etc. Yeah, i'll even throw Homicide in there, even though I hate him.
 
dave needs to watch the part where Heyman talks about the "Vince bubble". Dude never even watched WCW, but dave thinks he watches puro on youtube.
 
That is a must watch for any MMA or wrestling fan, or anyone interested in what draws money.

If Shane Carwin would take the advice Heyman was laying out for the type of promos he should be doing, Lesnar/Carwin would have done 50% more buys.
 
Awesome listen... Heyman is fantastic.

Found it interesting that the reasons he's not likely to join TNA is them "not being ready". Similar thought to why I don't think its the right move....

Moreover making the product itself better...he will market the product much better and produce it much better (imagine Paul with a production budget, lol). I mean, TNA's marketing for Hogan was to put his face on everything...this is 2010, where Hogan is merely a reality TV star and a TMZ poster child...not exactly what you want as the "face" of the company, yet that is where TNA went.
 
I keep reading that Heyman might be joining Strikeforce, dont know in what capacity, but Coker says there might be an announcement soon
