Re: the Davis-->Pittsburgh trade...Ike ran his course in NY, no other way to spin it. Earlier in his career, he was legit on track to becoming one of the top first basemen in the league. A freak injury literally put an end to any hope of that as his swing was completely fucked and has never improved since. He's remained a very good glove and he'll always have the potential to hit some home runs, but you'll have to put up with a low 200s batting average. On a good team, he can be serviceable....so watching him struggle with the Mets was futile.
The player to be named later is said to be "significant" according to Heyman. This has led speculation to say this PTBNL is a 2013 Pirates draft pick. If so, the teams must wait until June (I believe, unless it's a year from the date the player signed which could push it to July) to make his identity official in the trade.
