New Orleans star point guard Chris Paul insisted he was serious when he said there's a chance he soon could be traded.

Paul was interviewed Thursday by Pro Basketball News, and asked about his team's financial situation. The Hornets are staring at being well over the luxury tax, and might have to dump some big contracts.

"In this league, anything can happen," said Paul, at the summer league to watch his Hornets. "I can be dealt."

Paul then was asked that surely he can't be serious he could be traded.

"It's possible," he said. "It's possible."

The Hornets made a move last February to save money by dealing center Tyson Chandler to Oklahoma City. However, the trade ended up being rescinded after health concerns surfaced regarding Chandler.

Paul is hopeful the Hornets will end up retaining their key players, but knows nothing is certain.

"Right now, it looks like the same cast," he said. "But, if something happens, it happens. ... Me and (forward James Posey say to one another that) we've got to work with what we've got and go out and play hard."

Posey hopes the Hornets won't end up again dealing Chandler.

"You never want to see it," Posey said. "But I'm a player and my job is to go out there and play hard. ... You can't control that part of it (the Hornets' money situation). You've got to control what you can."

Yes, lets trade the best point guard in the game and pretty much our only chance of having a fanbase because his stock is high.

New Orleans has some good pieces... if they can make a few moves for more depth and draft well, I don't see why they cant contend in the west with Chris Paul running the show.

Also, like others have said he is locked up until 2012. He isn't going anywhere. Don't forget all the things Chris Paul has done for the city of New Orleans. Hes shown to be a man of good character, I highly doubt he will be demanding trades and ranting and raving about how he needs to get out of New Orleans.

Please people, lets be realistic about these rumors.
 
LOL at people sayin he means to much to the fan base in NO? what fan base the 30 people that actually attend games? I would trade him to get something in return, because you know he isn't resigning when his contract is up and you know with their cap situation(and generally crappy management) they are not going to be winning anything anytime soon.

Trade him to Portland for Bayless, fernandez, and Batum...

What the hell are you talking about. They have pretty much sold out almost every game since their return to New Orleans. That trade you said is probably the dumbest thing I have ever heard

19th in the league in avg attendance doesn't seem like they are selling out every home game in New orleans.... sorry but it makes no since to keep a Big time player in a crappy Basketball city...Move him while you can get something in return.

Bayless(young potential stud PG), Fernandez(flashy scorer), and Batum a young promising stud D player..

Check the percentages. Based on capacity percentages they are 8th. New Orleans Arena isn't a huge place. That number is 98% capacity. Again you have proved your stupidity with that dumbass trade.Fernandez is not considered flashy by anyone. He can score but he isn't going to average 20+ ppg is he.
