I think the best thing for the Caps would be to actually miss the playoffs. Then, I think the team would be blown up and rebuilt the way it should be. No doubt the Caps have tons of talent, but when have we put it together when it counts?

First to go should be Alexander Semin, and potentially Mike Green. I've had enough of him being injured the past two seasons, and we can do so much more with the $5 million plus in salary space.

Semin and Green both need a change of scenery, you're definitely right.

I kind of hope Winnipeg gets in, just because I like to see something different every year, and those fans I think deserve at least one round of the playoffs this year. I also hope Florida gets in as well, because they also deserve it. Playing good hockey with a made up team.

Buffalo I hope fails, simply because I want them to learn the lesson that money does not buy a winner. Washington I would like out, just because I am tired of them as well. Toronto, well I dont see a prayer getting them in at this moment. Again losing at the wrong time.

I want to see Buffalo as the 8 seed because I think they are the only team in that bunch that would give the Rangers a go. Not that I think they would defeat them, but Ryan Miller playing hot would make it a bit more interesting.

Any other team should be a sweep, 5 games max series.

Points %, head-to-head, wins minus shootout wins, probably goal difference after that.

I think you are tied head to head, despite winning 3 to 2, because it's an unbalanced home-away split right now and the first game at Detroit therefore doesn't get counted. Therefore, St Louis leads on regulation and overtime wins.

Some people are going to want the team to bring in Parise or another big name, but that experiment with a high-powered offense has utterly failed this team. Ovechkin, Backstrom, Laich, Carlson and Wideman (talk about a dude who has blown past all expectations here) provide more than enough firepower.

What they need to do is fill the rest of this roster with players like Scott Hartnell. Guys who don't mind getting dirty and can play both ends of the ice. That way, come playoff time, the Caps won't be rolled over. Getting rid of almost $12 million in cap space with Green and Semin would go a long way towards those kind of players.

Leafs cannot continue to fall behind and now would be a good time to beat the B's for the first time this season. Boston wins though!

New York R @ New Jersey
Jersey have done well in the season series and are right behind the Flyers for the 5 seed right now. Callahan makes his return from injury and hank is in net, Rangers win.

Carolina @ Washington
This is the kind of game which defines a quitter in my opinion, Capitals need to get a home win here.

Ottawa @ Tampa
Tampa is on a surge and looks like the team most likely to build up steam and make a run at the playoff berths. Ottawa could potentially fall right back into the category of looking nervously at its chasers with a loss tonight. Tampa wins.
