As for your first question, he joined a perfect situation with D'Antoni's offense. Now they are back to running the same system after experimenting with something else for a year. He's an unselfish player who has no need for athleticism, so his age will not be a factor as long as his back holds up. Not like he was playing any defense anyway.

As for your second question, I have no earthly idea. They asked Channing Frye and his answer made no sense either, he basically said "well I knew Amare and Steve would need some room out there so I had to stay further away from the basket". I guess they are just that wide open due to Nash being an amazing passer? I really don't know. It's crazy how inflated offensive and shooting numbers are in Phoenix, it's like the equivalent to steroids in baseball.

Once in the offense with Nash I don't think they magically become great shooters, but they have a confidence in shooting because they're allowed to shoot.......this takes tremendous amount of pressure off of a shooter, because they know they're expected to keep shooting.

Exactly.. its all about freedom. They told Frye he'd have the freedom to shoot the 3.. he worked on the 3 specifically in the off-season, now hes getting wide open looks and shooting at an alarming rate.

This is really it, in a nutshell. The Suns spend a lot of time in transition and when they're not you have to double Stoudemire down low, both of these things are conducive to good three point shooting. Give most NBA players the opportunity to shoot more 3s and be more open while doing so will result in higher percentages.

I don't think they are really running it full power or even how D'Antonio wants to. Now admittedly I don't watch a ton of Knicks games but from what I've seen it's not the full-fledge seven seconds or less offense.

Looking at their shot clock usage this year:

New York 09-10

0-10 seconds: 38%
11-15 seconds: 31%
16-20 seconds: 21%

Now let's go to Suns prime years 2005-2006 and their shot clock usage

Suns 05-06

0-10 seconds: 44%
11-15 seconds: 22%
16-20 seconds: 17%

Suns 04-05

0-10 seconds: 48%
11-15 seconds: 27%
16-20 seconds: 18%

So honestly, while it looks disappointing I don't think D'Antonio is really running a true form of his offense and will probably wait until he can rid himself of half of that roster. So i'd wait to judge him and his offense away from Nash.

I didn't think Larry Brown would be dumb enough to coach a basketball IQ-challenged Knicks team with Stephon Marbury as the PG. But he fell in love with Dolan's millions, just like D'Anfoni.

And I love how D'Anfoni's being defiant about not shaking up his staff and hiring a defensive coach. Last time I checked, he's not the GM. I hope Walsh reads him the riot act.
