Report: Colts to cut Marvin Harrison shortly

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports that the Colts will release Marvin Harrison "in the coming days."

Harrison's been a Colt for 13 seasons, but his inability to separate from DBs consistently makes him unworthy of his $13.4 million cap number. The move will save $7 million under the cap, allowing Indianapolis to franchise tag free agent Kelvin Hayden. The deadline to franchise players is Thursday

I guess he wouldn't negotiate his contract... I mean, this really kills me, I don't want to see him in any other jersey.

I mean, no real colt fan is comfortable with seeing this, the man means to much to us, I mean, it sounds gay, but Indianapolis loves that man, its going to be painful for every colt fan to see him go, even if we all knew its probably for the best, it doesn't mean its any easier to deal with.

This is upsetting news. I cant begin to put into words what Marvin has done for us. Hes always a colt tho , and forever will be even if hes on another team. Class player and Class act not much else i need to add to that.

even sadder for colts fans is the serious lack of depth behind them...WR will be a pick in the first 3 rounds of this draft...i still think Gonzalez is best suited in the slot...and wayne is what...28-30 range now....peyton has a few more years but this could get real ugly in the next 5 yrs if something doesnt get done...

It seems like Indy develops good talent, then lets it go...especially at LB wit thronton and peterson etc...if they will dish out the money to pay these guys they could have a great team longer...

It will be sad when it happens, but it NEEDS to happen. He's not the player he used to be, not even close. Draft someone and let them develop, Gonzo + Reggie is fine for now.

clark is still a force in the slot so maybe that will help. the colts have to draft a dt first, they need that middle to get solid on D or it wont matter who the wide outs are.

Reggie Wayne is still a top 10 wr in the nfl imo ... hes got a few more years in him. Gonzo might do well at 2 but idk , only time will tell on him. Dallas Clark is basicly a slot wr anyways. He lines up there as much if not more than te. Colts will draft a explosive kick returner/wr in the draft. The feeling is if Peria Jerry (sp?) and Raji are gone the Colts might take a wr in round one. Seeing as the next best dt can probably be obtained in round 2.

Harrison was one of my major role models growing up in Indy, he rarely talked shit, and he always let his game talk for himself. He's treasured and loved here in Indianapolis, and it would absolutely KILL me to see him in another jersey.

If he goes into another jersey I don't know what I'm going to think. He should just retire, I don't want him to be remembered as a guy who messed up his career by coming back because he didn't know when to retire. But it is a very sad day.

Marvin Harrison will do average at a new team. Hes still not a terrible player. As bad of a year as he had for us he still made some big plays. I dont think its one of them examples where the guy just cant play anymore. I could still see Marvin doing decent to well in a short underneath passing attack.

2 examples of big plays this year: Burning Ravens for a long td . Catching a 4th and inches v the Chargers for 15yards

Maybe he should im sure marvin only knows if his body can still go through the season long schedule. Hes not a go to guy anymore at all your right , but he can still somewhat play , hed still do decent for most teams.

I think thats why its so hard to accept,

he went from being an elite receiver in the NFL to being considered washed up in 2 years.

I still believe Harrison can be great, seeing as its his FIRST year back from the injury, but then again, I could just be suffering from homeritus.

if Jerry and raji are off the board, I don't have a doubt in my mind that we'll pick up Percy Harvin if he is still on the board.

The colts do need a DT, but they wont go DT in the first round if the next best DT they can grab will still be available to choose with their second round pick. so if Jerry and Raji are off the board, I wouldn't mind seeing them pick up Harvin, or another explosive return/wr athlete that can give us a lot of athleticism.

yeah theres about 6 or 7 of us here who take over the chatbox and threads everynow and then with colts talk.
