Report: Eric Gordon benched after screaming match with coach

Hornets coach Monty Williams and point guard Eric Gordon got into a screaming match during a timeout with 8:37 left in the third quarter. Millsap had just scored on a putback to put Utah ahead 55-47 and New Orleans called a timeout. Williams was visibly agitated, yelling in Gordon's direction. He had to be held back by assistant coach Randy Ayers after Gordon hollered back at him, and when the team went to the sidelines, Williams continued screaming at Gordon. Gordon, the team's leading scorer, did not return to the game after the confrontation.

2 whole games ago. Started last night. He was playing lazy D. Also LOL at him being the leading scorer. He wasn't even top player in the game let alone the season in which he didn't play until the end of December

They're going to have to move him eventually. Obviously they should have tried to get something for him, but it was obvious then and now that he doesn't want to be in NO. They also gave him a pretty terrible contract.

Still pretty unsure where you get the doesn't want to be here. He has been hurt. He took the contract in Phoenix cuz that is where the money is at. He was mad the Pelicans let the market dictate his value.

There was more to him signing with the Suns other than money. I believe he had mentioned that he hoped the Hornets didn't match and something about "Phoenix is where he heart is". Either way at his price and injury history he was a bad signing for both the Suns and Hornets.

Like I said, he was salty that the Pelicans didn't just hand him a max deal. Which is why his panties were in a bunch. Let the market dictate his value and the Pels were matching no matter what.

You may be right, but it was still a bad basketball move to match that contract.
 
The New Orleans Hornets were unable to pull off a trade of Eric Gordon before February's trade deadline, but that doesn't mean they are done shopping him.

The Hornets are still likely to remain open to trading him after this season ends, according to sources.

Gordon reportedly engaged in a confrontation with New Orleans coach Monty Williams during Friday night's game against the Utah Jazz.
