A close friend of Rasheed Wallace has reportedly told SLAM that the forward will retire if he doesn't get $8 million to play next season.

Wallace, who will be an unrestricted free agent, is unlikely to make that much after averaging 12 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Pistons this season.

He'll be 35 when the 2009-10 season begins, and earned nearly $14 million from Detroit this year.

I wouldnt be surprised if someone gave him 8 mill or close to it. Hes still one of the best post-defenders in the league, and gives all the stars fits. He just seems so care free on the court the last couple years tho thats its scary to pay that guy ANYTHING, none the less the MLE. But this is the NBA.. someone always pays up.
 
Honestly if the Bulls made a run at him for a 1 or two year deal I wouldn't be mad. Problem is you can't keep the guy in the post but I think he'd be there enough to fit our needs.
 
Ben Gordon, Lindsay Hunter, Linton Johnson, Aaron Gray, and Hinrich's contract value decreases by about half a million this year as well.

Jerome James will go off the books as well I think as they will get an insurance buyout on the salary as he won't ever play again due to injury.

On the contrary, I've never heard any of Sheed's teammates ever having a problem with him. To me, he actually seems like he'd fit that chemistry in Cleveland quite well...off the court. The problem is can he check himself and dial it back a notch on the court, cuz the antics with refs got old long ago.
