He may be the best WR in football not named Andre Johnson.

I could just reference the stats, which are quite impressive (leads the NFL in both catches and yardage), but beyond that I feel that his hands and body control are unmatched in the game today. Nobody has the ability to contort their body while snatching the ball out of the air like Roddy does, with the exception being maybe Fitzgerald.

If you've seen even one Falcons game, you know this. Statistically, he's the number one WR this year, and his previous three years were all Pro-Bowl caliber also. I had him around 6 or 7 in my personal top 10 going into the year, but with Steve Smith (Panthers) and Randy Moss regressing, Larry Fitz stuck on a shitty team, and Roddy leading the NFL in catches and yards, it's time to reevaluate that.

Roddy is the second best WR in the NFL, and the best not named Andre Johnson.

I've always liked Roddy White. He just needed a chance to shine, which he wasn't getting with the old Mike Vick at QB. Him and Ryan work well together, and I think White really helps make Ryan appear to be better than he is.

I still think Ryan is better than Flacco because he's so clutch, but I agree that Roddy is better at being a WR than Ryan is at being a QB, and that Matty benefits greatly from playing with White, Tony Gonzalez and a reliable running back.

In his early years, Roddy had terrible work ethic which is why he and Vick were so bad together. After Vick left, Roddy admitted that all he ate was fast food and he rarely worked out. He also dropped a lot of passes.

I think that Vick and Roddy were both dogging it in their preparations and that is why the pair never clicked like they should. Since then, he's put up a 1200 yard season with Joey Harrington/Chris Redman as his QB and posted four straight over 1100. Now that he is dedicated to his craft, I see nothing stopping White from becoming a borderline HOFer.

IIRC didn't White only play one year with Vick, and wasn't he a rookie at the time? I wouldn't expect him to do anything in this first year. Also wasn't he deep in the depth chart behind Joe Horn, Jenkins and Finneran? I don't remember it all, but I think thats what the WR depth chart was for the Falcons back then.

But yea the dude is a top flight WR, good to have him back to the elite after an off year, that wasn't entirely his doing.

Yeah if we god awful with Vick. Joe Horn really helped him change his game and his personality. It's crazy he went from me saying,"Get him the fuck off the team" to being named as a top 3 WR in the league. And yes, you're right about the depth chart. Dez White was also there at one point..lol.

The catch on the game winning drive against the Bucs the other week was almost too clutch of Roddy. The throw from Matt could have been a little better but it was still in the area it needed to be and Roddy made one of the most difficult catches of the year.

Also Jenkins has been clutch too in these late drives, making the definition of a finger tip grab earlier in the year against Baltimore.

At the time of the dropped passes I remember Millen saying that White is a big time talent, but he has to learn how to make those "clutch" catches and until he does that he won't be an elite WR.

I was talking about the catch against Tampa and I even said it was almost too clutch of Roddy...

Jenkins with the finger tip catch was the definition of clutch. It was the same play Jenkins made that clutch catch with 1 second left against the Bears.

Basically any pass made by Matt Ryan is "clutch", thus any catch White or Jenkins makes is also "clutch".

I dont really think it sounds all that crazy, altho I do think this discussion changes yearly based on whos having the best year. But Roddy has been a consistent top 5-10 guy the last few years, and has taken an even bigger leap this year, and he does it with very little help from his fellow WRs while facing a lot of double coverage.

If there's one guy who knows an elite WR when he sees one, it's Matt Millen.

And who really cares, the Falcons are 4-0 in a division which includes two other winning teams. They've only played the Panthers once, btw.

Last I checked, they've also played the Steelers and Eagles on the road, plus hosted Baltimore. So by my view, the Falcons schedule is not that soft.
