RUMOR Suns to trade Amare to Boston?

Trade Rumor Update

Yesterday, KTAR sports-talk radio in Phoenix talked about a possible deal involving Rondo and Ray Allen (for Amare Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa, and the 14th pick in the draft). The host of the show has posted the story, which you can read here. Here's an excerpt:

It's no secret that the Celtics like Stoudemire, they are one of about 10 teams that have shown interest in the power forward. And it's no secret that the Suns will be shopping Stoudemire hard once the NBA Finals are over.

The Suns have no intention of giving Stoudemire a contract extension of which he is eligible for this summer and they certainly don't want to let him walk after next season when he has the right to opt out of his current contract. So Stoudemire will be dealt and there will be some good deals on the table to give STAT a new address. The Celtics will show interest and could put together some enticing packages. But it is unlikely that Stoudemire will be wearing green next year.

Well, based on those comments, this was all purely speculation and nothing more. Still, I think a deal like this is possible and probable, and won't be the last time we hear some rumors like this.

This wouldn't make a whole lot of sense for Phoenix IMO. The Suns need to rebuild, and you don't do that by trading away a first round draft pick, and two relatively young players for an aging Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo.

From the Celtics perspective they would be getting a pretty substantial steal IMO. Allen's getting up there in age so replacing him with a younger Barbosa makes sense there. They add a 20 and 9 big man, and a first round draft pick which they'd likely use to replace Rajon Rondo with a guy like Ty Lawson or Jrue Holiday, or they can always pick up a point guard in free agency with the MLE.

Seems like an incredibly unlikely trade though, so I wouldn't put too much stock into the rumor.

im not saying i want this deal to happen, but if it did then why would the celtics have to trade away KG if we had amare? it can be:

1: Stephon Marbury
2: Leandro Barbosa
3: Paul Pierce
4: KG/Amare
5: Amare/KG

then perk goes to the bench and helps our bigman problem, and then we also have powe and if big baby wants 5+ like people are saying then its easier to let him go. but theres no way i want to trade rondo.

Rondo is being overrated now, to make up for how much he was underrated before.
