I'm not sure I'd consider the Pujols deal like this, he signed a 7-year, $100 million deal after his 3rd year in the league. That's roughly market value, just slightly under after signing a record arbitration number the year before. So I don't know if I'd classify that as the same.
Hanley signed a 6 year, $70 million deal after his 2nd year... that's far, far, far below market value for him.
