It's been a fun day living our here covering this shit. Seriously seemed like every time your turn around, something was happening.
Some little notes.
- The scoreboard is damaged because it was on the ground. They move that thing out of the way when things come into the arena and don't need it so it doesn't block space. Hence why it was basically destroyed.
- Locker rooms, zamboni, a bunch of equipment and arena shit is under water.
- The city of Calgary yesterday was tweeting what seemed like non-stop about the flooding and actually reached the 1000 tweets a day limit twitter has. So when they went down, the city of Edmonton, Calgary police and the Calgary Flames jumped in to start tweeting. If you read the flames twitter you will see it.
- Funny thing about this flood, fucking Canadian's actually listen when they are told to 'GTFO' of an area. This wasn't some hurricane that they had weeks to plan for, this happened over night, and when they were told to leave, they did. By 4pm today there was no one confirmed dead. Reports are not up to 4, but still, so more than 100,000 people left the area and went else where.
- The city was basically shut down. The mayor basically came out and said "It's friday...nothing important happens on Friday so stay home". Was great to see him say that.
- Rain is expected for the area and another 100mm is on the way. We are getting hammered right now with rain, and it's been like this for about 3-4 days now. So this isn't over just yet.
