divisional rivals stud MLB ;-)

Once Stephen Tulloch signed a deal to return to the Lions, the middle-linebacker dominos
were prepped to start falling. And a big one fell on Saturday night, when the Saints
announced a five-year deal with Curtis Lofton.

Should be great in the middle of the Saints defense. Great move by the Saints, and I am still puzzled as to why the Falcons let him go.

I saw a report that basically said he wasn't enough of a difference maker. One of those steady types that does a lot of things well but nothing excellently. I can buy that line of reasoning but he was a homegrown kid who held down the middle of our defense as a fucking rookie a few years back, and he's still pretty young.

Lofa Tatupu could end up being a major upgrade if he gets back to form, but these are the types of modern day sports moves that hurt the fans more than the actual team. It is tough to watch Lofton walk since he was part of the original Dimitroff draft class that contributed so hugely to our rebuilding effort. Selfishly as a fan, when you get to know a certain group of guys, you want them to stay together.

Well with Vilma plunking down $$$$ on a table surely didn't help his cause, &
i'm sure enough of a cause for the Saints to realize that he was gone no
matter the situation.. I mean hell, his productivity has slipped the past
couple years, granted "when" he was on the field he was ok, but you could
tell that time was catching up to him quickly.. and then for the Saints to go
out and get a MLB of the quality of Lofton wasn't that much of a surprise.. but
what was a surprise was stealing him from a divisional team.. I know the
signing of LT might have been somewhat of a stunner for Lofton, that in turn
might've been enough of a pride shaker to make him bolt.. In this day and age
he really didn't sign for a bank breaking contract either, somethings just make
ya go hmmmm.. either way, glad he's a Saint, and even more glad that the
Saints didn't go to sleep at the wheel waiting for Vilma to get the axe from
the NFL before making a move to shore up what would've been a weak spot.
