Sam Bradford and Matt Stafford

Sam Bradford has completed 58.2% of his passes for six touchdowns and six interceptions thus far this year. Matt Stafford finished his rookie season completing 53.3 % of his passes for 2267 yards, thirteen touchdowns, and twenty interceptions.

It's entirely too early for any sort of real projections. You don't have any real, clear basis to base prognostication for the success or failure of either player...

HOWEVER that hasn't stopped anyone before, so...

Who do you think has been better in their short, short careers thus far and who do you think will have the better career?

Well, all signs point to Sam he has some sort of a team. Yea they're rebuilding but their dire need was a qb. I think they've had enough talent to hold up...

On the other Hand Matt is in the middle of organizational rebuild. So he'll have more work to do but but depending on the talent of the remaining players after the season he'll put up numbers. Which one of them will win a ring first? Neither no time soon. (and I love the Lions [home town team])

If Sam Bradford comes out in any of the previous three draft classes, he's the first quarterback taken. Detroit doesn't even think twice - Sam Bradford would be a Detroit Lion right now. Mike Shanahan even said he's the best QB prospect he's seen in years, and if St. Louis trades that #1 pick to Washington, Sam Bradford is wearing a Washington jersey right now, not Donovan McNabb.

I also like how Sam Bradford's success is already leading to ''he has a team around him,'' and ''he has Mark Clayton.'' What Sam Bradford has is a 1-15 football team around him, and a half assed WR that nobody else wanted. Before the seaon started, he wasn't ''ready'' to take over a team this bad. AJ Feeley was the way to go.

This is still a very bad football team. They just have a quarterback who isn't gunshy, and can help keep the chains moving. Funny thing about having a franchise QB, he makes the players around him better, including the defense.

He has a lot bad games coming up this season, trust me. I wonder if people will jump off the bandwagon as fast as they jumped on?

I haven't been able to see a Rams game this season...but I am going with Sam Bradford having the better season, Matt Stafford with the better career. I know the Rams WRs personally, and I doubt it is just me. They aren't big names, but they can do what they are supposed to...sometimes. Mark Clayton, Laurent Robinson and Danny Amendola.

Rams actually have something at WR, plus the major unseen point to the whole discussion is the O-Line... in this case Rams win all day.

I have heard all the Praise that Sam has gotten between Feb and draft day, so far I mean he is a rookie and is actively making moves. I'll like to see him dominate the Seahawks time to time again (I've never liked the Seahawks)

I'm not on the bandwagon yet. I just think he looks like a good player. He seems to be doing more with this team than a lot of players would. He's still a rookie. Like you said, he's still going to have a lot of bad games.

He's a very good player. This coming from a person who bashes just about every quarterback that enters the NFL. Truth of the matter is, I've been a Rams fan since I was 12 years old - and if St. Louis had passed on Bradford, I'd be a fan of whatever team was smart enough to take him (Washington.)

He's a smart guy, down to earth, good arm, great accuracy, which will show more as the weeks go by - and a very good on field leader. He's the type of guy players want to play for, something St. Louis didn't have with Marc Bulger. You won't find a player in that locker room that wanted to play for Marc Bulger. There was no question about who was going to start the season at QB - Feeley never had a shot. Some people think it's because of the money - It's because Sam Bradford was ready both physically and mentally.

The bad games will be just as important as the good games this season, and there will be more bad than good - A franchise quarterback bounces back. So, haters will have plenty of ''lulz'' this season. But in the end, I'm fairly certain the haters won't be laughing.

As for Matt Stafford - I didn't like the guy in college, and I like the guy even less now. I'm not a hater, though. I like Detroit - Detroit is that team you want to do well, because they've stunk for so long. If Stafford is the guy to turn it around, I'll be right there rooting for him. I just don't see the guy as the type of leader or player that can do it. I wouldn't have touched Stafford until late 2nd round.

Like I said, I was wary of both of them, but somehow Bradford seems to have taken better to the pro game than Stafford. That said, it's still way, way, way, too early... As I said in the OP. I didn't think extremely highly of Stafford in college, either, especially the way he seemed to be looking too early too quick to the pros. But what do I know?

On VSN, as in real life, people debating quarterbacks often fall-back on regular season, playoff, and championship wins, as if the quarterbacks play twenty-three other positions.

I think the Rams have a better offensive line and a running game other teams must respect. Both teams are rebuilding with young Quarterbacks and struggling defenses, so it is tough to say who is in the better situation.

If Bradford plays this full season, I think that is impressive enough to say he has been better in his short career. I think both will be productive and successful Quarterbacks at the next level. Although I think Bradford will have the more illustrious career.

I still think Stafford can be better than Bradford. I know it is only pre-season but I saw a much calmer and better decision making Stafford this August. Who knows if that would've transferred to the regular season but it seemed like the game was slowing down for him.

As far as actual production goes, yes Bradford is better. I just think Stafford has the potential to be better and, at this point in time, will end up the better quarterback.

However, that could change by the end of this year depending on how things go.

This reminds me of the Flacco/Ryan discussions.

Everyone seems to flip flop and go with whoever is hot right now, but I will always go with the more polished and fundamentally sound QB.

I think Matt Ryan will be better than Joe Flacco in the long run, and I think Sam Bradford will be better than Stafford in the long run.
