No one. They have to be coached to do it. Do you really want to see David Carr trotting out there because Eli Manning had to stop a guy from scoring?

well depends on the situation.....if it is a game saving tackle like Big Ben did against the Colts that year then yes make the tackle.....but in most cases they should stay away because they usually end up getting blown up.

I would tell Eli to never try and make a tackle unless it is a game ending score....truth is 99/100 he misses the tackle anyway.

If its a frail little/unathletic big guy like brees, manning, cutler, etc., I would tell them to avoid contact at all costs... But if it's tebow, cam newton, big Ben, I'm fine with it... It's all situational though, and unless the game hinges on that play, I'd rather all QBs avoid contact as much as possible...

I agree with glen....the risk is much, much higher than the reward. The Bears and Cutler are a perfect example.

I wouldn't want my QB trying to be a hero on an INT unless it was a game saving situation, because you have those headhunters on defense who always immediately look for the QB after the INT so they can take one of those technically legal cheap shots on him.

Just trot out of the way and avoid contact if possible.

Absolutely not. You're playing football. Cutler's injury was a freak accident. As a Bears fan it's upsetting, but when you start playing the game timidly and playing to not get hurt is when some of the most serious injuries occur.

Every football team in history plays not to get their QB hurt, it's why they employ offensive linemen.

I guess it depends on the player. If Newton threw an Interception and he has space to make the tackle. I expect him to make an effort to do so. Although that may not be best for all quarterbacks, since Cam is bigger than most *If not all* DBs.

seriously though, every time I see Manning trying to sprint into the open field it takes almost everything I have not to laugh. that bootleg against Oakland a couple of years ago was hilarious.

The decision should come down to the HC to tell his guy when and when not to git in harms way. Its up to the QB to decide whether getting in front of a freight train is what he was coached to do.

Theres rules in place to prevent a QB from getting leveled already no ? Anything more its up to the coaches.

Jon Kitna was the fucking man at throwing a pick and taking his helmet off and walking back to the sidelines why the play was still going on. He had to have done it at least 7-8 times in Detroit.

Andy Dalton probably saved a pick 6 on the pick he threw against the Rams last weekend....and given the score of the game, one could argue that saved the game for Cincy. I don't want my QB being a little bitch so why not try to tackle the defender. Just don't be an idiot about it and put your arm in danger.

If a Punter/Kicker get a tackle in a game, and the QB just walks off the field after a pick with no attempt and stopping the play..at the end of the game that said punter/kicker can say to the starting Franchise QB:

Punter/Kicker: Nice tackle, dick.

A QB never puts himself in a position where a kicker can put him down.
