Interesting part:
So really where hockey is really popular its really popular and markets like Chicago went from almost being sold off and moved many years ago because of a terrible owner to a top 5 value team. Same goes for Pittsburgh who are cracking the top 10 now. A canadian game only has 3 teams in the top 10 for franchise value. Thats fantastic for game growth.
The sad thing is the league was at a point where it just had a western team win the cup and fan interest was crazy high. They were pulling in more money then the NBA (supposibly) and popularity growing yet both sides went and fucked it up. I hope those retarded players realize just how much their losing with this. I honestly have no pity or side with them anymore.
Interesting part:
The spread between the rich and poor teams is dramatic. The top five teams—Maple Leafs ($1 billion), New York Rangers ($750 million), Montreal Canadiens ($575 million), Chicago Blackhawks ($350 million) and Boston Bruins ($348 million)—are worth $605 million, on average. The five least valuable—Carolina Hurricanes ($162 million), New York Islanders ($155 million), Columbus Blue Jackets ($145 million), Phoenix Coyotes ($134 million) and St. Louis Blues ($130 million)—are worth just $145 million, on average.
