The St. Louis Rams reached an agreement with No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford on a six-year, $78 million deal, sources told ESPN on Friday night.
According to the sources, Bradford's deal contains $50 million of guarantees and has a max value of $86 million.
Last year, the Detroit Lions gave No. 1 overall pick Matthew Stafford a six-year deal that included $41.7 million in guaranteed money.
Veteran A.J. Feeley opened Rams camp as the starting quarterback while Bradford's agents and the Rams' front office worked out a deal.
Bradford won the Heisman Trophy as a redshirt sophomore at the University of Oklahoma. However, he appeared in just three games in 2009, his junior year, before undergoing right shoulder surgery.
The Rams were 1-15 last year and scored a league-low 175 points. They are just 6-42 the past three seasons and have had three different head coaches and six different starting quarterbacks in that time frame. The Rams have not made the playoffs since making five postseason appearances from 1999-2004.
