Don't really have an historical knowledge of soccer. They have too many flaws IMO to be considered the best team ever. But they do a very good job at covering up their flaws.

No. Brazil from the mid 90's to mid 00's were fucking ridiculous. The 70's Brazilians were ridiculous. They would make this current Spanish squad look average. Spain relies heavily on slowing the game down, keeping multiple passing lanes open, then making a late run, and then containing a counter attack as best as possible. The Brazilian teams have shown that possession has never been needed to help them win games. Brazil goes balls out on the counter attack, forcing the other team to recover faster.

Most teams will counter by waiting for a mistake and then rush. Brazil will let you play your game, and then just send everyone to the races. The scariest part about Brazil is that they have defenders who have no fear of just bombing forward at any point during a game. Roberto Carlos would do this, and Danny Alves loves to do this as well.

You think so? Cuz I dont. Only the 70's teams from Brasil have been comparable because of Pele and two others. Mid 90's and 00's teams were good but nothing to go crazy over. 06 WC, they got eliminated in the quarters. The 02 winners have a had a good team. Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Lucio, and attacking were Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho. But they were weak in the middle with Kleberson (lol) and Gilberto Silva holding it down. You honestly think they would touch the ball going against Xavi, Iniesta, and Xavi Alonso. 98 France beat Brazil 3-0, and in the USA, they beat Italy, as Baggio Baggio'd it.

Spain showed yesterday that its not just about slowing the game down. Its all about possesion, but yesterday they played with more tempo and dominated. Its no coincidence that this team has won 3 in a row, beating everyone along the way. The Dutch with all the attacking they do couldnt get a touch and resorted to counter attacking. The same thing with Germany in Euro 08. Not a sniff.

Its the way Spain play and have been taught. They are taught that the most important thing is ball possession. Goals come along the way. They dont attack, they just keep the ball. Its the new International thing to do. And with the Spanish technique, they are by far the best at it. Thats why I said Tiki-Taka pisses me off and bores me. But it works. And I hate them.

The Dutch are one of the more overrated teams in international football.

Brazil from 58 to 70 won 3 of 4 World Cups. Between 94 and 09, they were averaging winning a tournament every 3 years. 2 WC's, 4 Copa America's, and 3 Confederation Cups. 9 Tournaments in 15 years is ridiculous. The '02 squad basically ran with a 5-3-2. Cafu and R. Carlos played wing back, and Edmilson playing sweeper was given a free license to push the ball forward. What most people don't realize is that the '02 midfield happened because Emerson got hurt days before their first game. It was suppose to be him and Juninho. Ronaldinho also played more of a CAM role. Then add in the fact that Ronaldo was outright the best player of the entire tournament. 8 goals in 7 games.

A fun debate none the less. Just not quite sure about the Brazilians because the always found a way to trip themselves up somehow. No wrong answer, but for me, I havent see the Spaniards fuck themselves yet. And they have been blessed with some good fortune as well.

They had the best run since Brazil in the 60s, that is for sure. Winning 2 straight Euros with the WC in between is unmatched in European soccer. If not for Brazil having a longer run (which Spain can still match or surpass with time), I'd say Spain is the best.

I don't see how they can't be. I mean just the fact that they were the first to ever win 3 straight major tourneys proves it itself.
