State of the Falcons Fans Address

Hello friends. Wutitdo? First let me start off by saying Aaron Rodgers might actually be jesus. I know dude can look like him in the right light and maybe thats because he himself is the source of that light in the first place, I'm not a scientist so I cannot say for sure one way or the other. But then again the Falcons defense (Chris Owens) wasn't making it very hard for ol' Rodgey. And for all the talk Tony Gonzalez made for his never winning a playoff game stat, he sure managed to stay invisible enough to ensure that streak continued.

Now everyone can realize why Falcons fans were so eagerly hoping the Eagles would win. I said numerous times that I was more worried about the Pack then the Eagles. So now Jolly Rodgers gets to skip his team to the ship... well not really. He's the only one skipping because he's got that team on his back. lol @ considering him a "young QB" dude sat on the bench half his career and watched Brett Favre make all his rookie mistakes for him. Since he got those first seasons under his belt he's stepped in and has solidified himself, especially this season, even without all that team's weapons. And when that Godzilla of a TE comes back... :chomp:

As far as where the Falcons go from here, I mean it's tough to hate on a 13-3 record and I think the team can take a lot from this season and continue to get better for next year. For that to work we might need to consider:

Bringing in new coordinators. Mularkey managed to continue to completely get away from the offense we ran in Ryan's rookie year. The only time the offense looked relevant was when we were in the no huddle. Desperately need open up the passing game, especially down the field. McDaniels wudup? Van Gorder is :turrible:
look what a new face can do for teams like the Pack, Saints, etc. There's plenty of young talent for a new coordinator to build with.

Fill roles: Desperately need a solid #2 WR and a young DE who can get pressure. For the Oline I'd say keep Clabo around at RT, let Dahl leave, move Baker inside, and go from there. McClure needs to retire. Tony needs to stick around and mentor a young TE we get in the draft. Also desperately need a change of pace back who can catch (Forte) Keep Snelling. Ditch Norwood. Maybe promote Weems to offense.

Good post J.Hen but I think some of the blame needs to put on Ryan as well. He made some awful decisions yesterday really put his team in the hole.

Not to mention he only had 104 yards passing with about 2 mins left in the 3rd quarter. Offense as a whole was flat out terrible yesterday. Nobody for the Falcons really played as well as they could have.

This game was won in the trenches.

Green Bay did an excellent job protecting Rodgers.

When we did blitz, they picked it up, and he had all day to throw, and picked us apart with the one on one coverage. Don't blame Owens.

When we didn't blitz, we didn't get any pressure at all. Rodgers found the middle of the field all day.

4 times we finally got pressure, and our defense overpursued, and Rodgers slipped away and completed some huge huge 3rd down conversions.

On the Falcons offense side of the ball, we could not pick up the blitz. Turner has been notoriously bad at this, and yesterday clearly showed it. The pack kept on blitzing and we could not beat them.

Good gameplan by the packers, and excellent execution.

There was also some GLARING coaching mistakes. With a tie game, in the 2nd QTR and falcons driving with 4 min on the packer side of the field. THEY GO TO HURRY UP OFFENSE. WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU DO THAT?? You run clock, KEEP THE BALL AWAY from the packer offense, burn clock and get points before the half. WHY DO YOU WANT TO HURRY UP AND SCORE and give them the ball back? Take your time and score. RESULT - Ryan INT in the endzone, Packers come back and score a TD.

And of course the INT before the half when we probably should have just lined up Bryant for a 53 yders.

As much as I am glad that the Packers won, Matt Ryan's interceptions weren't completely his fault. The receiver slipped on the first one, and on the second one...all right, that might have been his fault.

I don't think the entire game would have changed, because the Falcons defense never could stop Green Bay. It might have delayed the inevitable rout, thats it.
