The only problem I can see, is that Tennessee pretty much has to recruit nationally. They have to steal kids from Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, etc.
It's really hard to do that without a good selling point, and I'm not sure Dooley has one other than his last name. But we shall see, I think he's a solid coach and has a good recruiting history. It just might not be good enough to succeed in a talent-poor state like Tennessee.
Especially with Saban locking down Bama and Paul Johnson continuing to emerge as a 2nd threat in Georgia.
Kiffin pissed a lot of people off with his brashness, but coaching at Tennessee is gonna piss people off either way, because in order to get talent you have to raid other state's resources. It will continue to happen with Dooley, but hopefully his methods are a little more diplomatic, if you will.
I wish him luck, because he's a former LSU coach and his dad Vince is a legend. But I think it will be an uphill battle in the Nat'l recruiting circuit for now.
