Thabeet Going Pro

Really depends on the team he gets. I can see him being a very solid player in the NBA though, but never an all-star. Maybe Roy Hibbert like rookie year.

He will be a good NBA starter. Coaches will tell him what he has to do and he will get bigger and stronger

I don't think Thabeet will be as dominant as he was in college.In college all he had to do was just sit under the goal and wait for players to come to the rim a majority of the time. In the NBA they are going to draw him out to the perimeter more making his defense less affective. NBA players are more skilled as well. I don't see him dominating LeBron, CP3, Wade, Kobe, ect at all. I mean, he will be a quality defender and get 2 blocks or so maybe 2.5 in his prime, but i just don't see him being the next great big man.

He also lacks his offensive game. Really i don't see him at more than 10ppg. People like Duncan, Howard, and Yao will totally destroy him on defense. I think he should have stayed one more year in U-Conn and developed his offense a bit more.

I think these stats will come out of him in his prime-

9-11ppg, 8-11rpg (gotta love that height), 1-2 apg, 1-2 bpg, 0.5-1 spg

I think he will be a very solid defensive player, but not a great player. Like i have heard before from Heelsox i think? Samuel Dalembert v2.

He has WAY better footwork than Hibbert and is a way better shot blocker. He's going to be a good pro.

He'll struggle with the likes who are bigger than him. I think power wise, Howard, Shaq will bully him early but what makes him so good defensively is he has good feet and can recover quickly if he gets beaten, since he's so long and quick as a 7'3" big man.

I like how people are only saying the freaks of nature are going to destroy him but not ever team has a freak of nature at center lol. He just started playing when he was 12 or 13. NBA coaches probably can't wait to get their hands on him.

Yeah, Shaq and Howard basically bully every center in the NBA...how does this reflect poorly on Thabeet? Its like saying a college CB isn't going to do well in the NFL 'because he won't be able to cover Randy Moss'.
 
thabeet will take a few years to develop into someone that can be counted on to start IMO, he has only been playing bball for about 6 years and still has alot to learn. Defense is different in the NBA too, he cant camp in the paint and wait for teams to come to him, he is going to have to learn how to cover pick n rolls effectively and also guard quicker, biggers guys.

I think he will end up being an effective pro, just not so soon

He should have developed more, I agree, but the guy has potential written all over him. It is rare to find a big man with such athletic footwork and defensive skill as he has.

OK, Howard will probably beast him his first few years in the league but that's 2 or 4 games out of an 82 game season. Duncan is on his way down and out, and will have no affect on Thabeet's career.

Basically it's going to be Howard, Oden, Bynum, Okafor, Lopez, Biedrins as his competition for the next ten years (and if any other young centers somehow arrive). He can easily hang with all of these guys (minus Howard) if he develops at the rate he has been.

Thabeet, will be at worst a Ben Wallace type player. MAD Potential like everyone else has been saying. I nearly cream thinking about how good this kid can be. Just think of this guy being paired with some other great, young post man like Jason Thompson or Spencer Hawes in Sac town. Could be pretty nice.
