Best promo of his life, best in the company since the pipebomb.

And I guarantee nobody wrote it for him. That's Mick Foley level intertwining real emotion into a worked promo with passion that something scripted can never accomplish.

Sad thing is this is from the app and nobody will see this. The best produced WWE stuff in terms of getting people over is buried on the app & the website and never sees TV.

Nice. Ziggles will probably never reach major title contention again, or if he does it'll likely be as a pla eholder. It sucks, but that's the way he's viewed, and that's the landscape with so much talent in the pipeline and queued up on Raw. Might be for his best though, more concussions and that guy would have to call it quits. He could be viewed as a liability as a main-eventer for head injury possibilities.

Paul E and Punk had good promos since the pipebomb. The Mark Henry promo was fantastic, too...but that was more of a "segment"...

That is the type of shit that needs to go on TV though. It is the type of promo that helps actually get you over more and if it is buries on the app...

Wrestling 101 is the 2-3 minute backstage promo. There are more good promos under four minutes than there will ever be over it..it has been lost on the WWE since the Attitude Era though.

Not trolling...If this passes for a good promo maybe thats why I cant watch wrestling for more than a few minutes unless its a slutty diva match.
All these guys seem like a bunch of Brian Pillman or generic tanned white guy clones. I prefer the costumed up or mega personalities and schticks.
Or is this good because all the other promos are just exaggerated fluff like I want ?

Pretty much. Ziggler has been legit screwed by the company, and his actual frustration is evident. And people can relate to real, raw emotion better than schtick. There's some Pillman similarities, but not much. And honestly, I don't know why. Pillman was the guy who was constantly told he wasn't tall enough or good enough more than anybody in football and wrestling. He SHOULD have had one of these promos. But he was always more psychotic and on-edge than fed up and frustrated. Ziggler comes off as confident but desperate. Pillman in his later incarnation never seemed desperate because he was too crazy to have goals or even feel defeated.

It's like sapp said, you have to understand the Ziggler's real life struggles & frustrations, and how he is normally presented, to really get it.

Ziggler has never cut a non cookie cutter modern day scripted promo in his life. This was the first time he was allowed (or chose) to just let loose and the real frustration and emotion led to something with some legit fire, which is rare these days.

People are divided on this. Some people hate the screaming, and others disliked walking the kayfabe line, such as the "they tell me not to be good" line, and bragging about being great when he's essentially a mid card guy barely above JTTS these days.

I think in small doses stuff like that is fine. Nobody has really done that since Punk in 2011. This isn't like 2000 WCW where every promo was a worked shoot. So for me it worked.

I have mixed feelings on this interview. I don't deny for a second Ziggler is a great talent, but whatever happened to having at least a bit of humility? At least CM Punk was humble enough to make cracks about others and WWE ice cream bars during his tirade. All Dolph could talk about was Dolph. While I agree he has gotten a raw deal, maybe part of it is him thinking he's absolutely perfect without a flaw. If I was a boss, that would rub me the wrong way. I don't deny for a second that all great talents have huge egos, but there has to be a bit of humility too.

I kinda get that, seriously, but Punk's is the best in the world, and he at least acknowledges others. I don't think Ziggler is so great that he's Hulk Hogan 1983-86. Yet, he does. Ziggler to me is Rick Rude. Brilliant talent, but not Hogan/Flair/Rock/Austin level.

This interview means jack shit unless they put the Title on him.

Ziggler peaked when he was the Champ, rolling with AJ and Big E. Langston.

Then he got concussed to all hell.

Then he said the wrong things to the wrong people at the wrong time.

He deserves more but he won't get it and will be just another name to add to the list of wrestlers that hit that glass ceiling and ate shit all the way down.

Nope, don't change a thing. His best line of that, and it was ALL good, was "Everything I do is to become better, the BEST....EVER!" That's perfection because it melds the whole thing together. It's him thinking he can chase greatness if ever given the opportunity, and being irate that he isn't. It perfectly brings together the character of Ziggler and the real-life struggle of Nick Nameth. He might not have a ton of time with these head injuries to play ball with Vince and all his "douchebag, glad-handing 'yes' men". It's perfect. The yelling, W2B? Makes it that much better. It's like people see this, they get it, and they want to nit-pick it. This may be, ironically, as close to greatness as Ziggler ever gets and it's being fed up at not being able to be as successful as he can. LAYERS!

I really wanna hear how some of the great all-time promos think about this. Obviously Foley and Austin, but even Dusty or Jake.

Yeah, i'm with you, the screaming is what makes it stand apart.

And i'm not sure what dave is going on about in terms of acknowledging others. I don't even know what that means. Does he expect the guy (whose gimmick is that he's cocky, no less) to cut a promo saying "I'm kind of good, but i'm second tier at best!"?
