The Class of 2010 College Football Recruiting Thread

Just trying to spark up some more college football talk in here. We know about the Russell Shepard's, Bryce Brown's, and Manti Te'o's of the Class of 2009, but what does your team have locked up for 2010?

Penn State right now has a great class so far according to Scout. http://recruiting.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2010

7th ranked class with 8 commits is pretty nice. #3 QB Paul Jones could end up being better than this year's commit Kevin Newsome and #2 WR Adrian Coxson is a definite need. We've also signed three linemen from the WPIAL. Already signed a 4-star RB out of CT in Silas Redd and one of the teams #1 RB Marcus Lattimore is interested in.

How's your team's 2010 recruiting class shaping up so far?

Soon to be adding RB Roderick Smith, and DL Darryl Baldwin, and possibly DT Johnathon Hankins. Hankins supposedly committed to tOSU the night after going to a MSU camp, but then word came out that he hadn't, people still think he has, I don't know what to think of things. I know Michigan didn't offer him because of concerns about his conditioning and such...

Overall, the class in Ohio has some good elite guys, but beyond that its not very deep. There are a good amount of sleepers, but not the depth your used to seeing.

I think Duane Long (tOSU insider) said it best about Ohio recruiting: 2010 has some good guys... but 2011 is the kind of class you win national championships with (Specifically QB Braxton Miller, probably the top in the nation for his class).

He was in two fights from the time he committed until around April, when the staff basically told him to cut it out or he'd be gone. People thought he had finally straightened out, when he got into a fight in the student parking lot at his school that ended up causing a few thousand dollars worth of damage to some cars. He's been kicked out of his high school and at this point he doesn't even know where he's going to go to high school next year. The first two fights, the coaches stepped in, but this was the last straw. He's technically still committed, but he won't be a Buckeye come signing day, and most doubt he'll even be in college next year.

He's one of the most talented pass rushers in the nation, but he's in with a bad crowd. He needs to get away from the gangs in Youngstown, but I'm not sure really whats going to happen. He's had attitude issues in the past, especially considering he quit his HS b-ball team midgame because of a dissagreement with the coach.

if that doesn't happen, you'll see him playing for small D1-AA schools (AKA FCS) someone will pick him up.

There was a guy at my highschool who had a scholarship to Florida to play ball, full ride and everything, and the kid was an athletic freak, benched 410 pounds, squatted 530, ran a 4.5, and played safety. strongest kid on the team.

But, he dealt weed, and got into a fight outside of a restaurant, in which he hit a kid so hard he broke his jaw, and was apparently later told that if his jaw would have went something like a centimeter or two more to the side he would have died. (I'm skepetical)

but, Florida pulled his Scholarship, and he ended up playing in the SWAC.

We got the number one CB recruit in 2010 (DeMarcus Milliner) to go along with Dre Kirkpatrick this year.. also a 5 star QB which will be much needed.

Is three straight years in the top-2 in recruiting possible? With a guy like Saban, you better believe it! I just hope he wins us a championship before bailing

Penn State just signed two 4-star defensive tackles in as many days. DaQuan Jones (#9 DT on Scout; 6'4', 300 lbs.) from New York and Evan Hailes (6'2", 305 lbs.) from Chesapeake, VA are both future Nittany Lions. Hailes had offers from LSU, NC State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Clemson, Minnesota, Michigan, Cal, Boston College, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Right now this Penn State class is shaping up to be one of the best in history.

3* S Chris Badger who committed to Stanford in March but rethought his choice and chose Notre Dame

1) You do know Turner is going to an out of state prep school, right? He'll have to seriously clean up his act, and while I hope he does, I'm not holding my breath. Duane Long shares a similar sentiment.

2) Yep, glad to see us add Smith, outside of Seastrunk he is my favorite RB in this class.

3) There's probably 8 or 9 spots left, and Lamarcus Joyner, Seantrel Henderson (Longshot), and Chaz Green (longshot) are really the only OOS recruits that we could get.

4) Probably the best QB in his class... thats what I meant. Steve Miller is a stud, and Chris Rock is solid as well. And there's a TE out of PA who's name escapes me..

Actually, they have serious consideration from C.J. Fiedorowicz from Chicago, Brandon Linder from Fort Lauderdale, Jeff Luc from Port St. Lucie (Fl), Zack Zwinak from Maryland, Corey Brown from Springfield, Arie Koundjio from Maryland (i think), Jonathan Hankins from Michigan, Kacy Rodgers from Texas, Chad Hagan from Pennsylvania, Will Hagerup from Wisconsin, and Laken Tomlinson from Illinois. Not to mention the three you named earlier.
Also do you have a Rivals Account?

C.J. has Illinois and Iowa on top for now, at least until Tressel shows that he will use the TE (Although I expect him to utilize Stoneburner).

Luc, Linder, Rodgers, Koundijo, and Zwinak are longshots.

I've basically penciled Hagan into this class already, so I was already counting him.

Tomlinson is an Illinois lean.

Its debatable as to whether Hankins even has an offer, but it may not matter anyway because Virginia is his leader since they are telling him he can start from day 1.

They stopped recruiting Corey Brown.

Hagerup is a possibility, and I hope he comes here but my gut tells me he's going to Michigan because Basil, Buchanon, and former pro soccer player Devin Barclay are at tOSU and Zoltan is leaving Michigan (This is your cue Kle).

Rodgers is a possibility as well.

All in all though, when it comes down to December and January highly rated, uncommitted recruits from the South will rarely choose a northern team. There's a reason Ohio State loses so many of those battles.

1) CJ said word for word that Ilinois was his leader. I do agree though, if we throw to the TE's this year he will be a Buckeye.

2) Rodgers didn't declare us his leader, he said we're high on his list.

3) Two weeks ago Tomlinson said that he was most comfortable with Illinois, while he was on campus at tOSU.

4) If Corey Brown is indeed one of their top 5 targets then why did he say that the staff has stopped talking to him? What Mack Brown (The GA RB) said before has led people to believe that Roderick Smith is going to be the only RB in this class.

5) I'm on my way out the door right now but off the top of my head Joyner, and maybe a few others will last until signing day.

Only Ohio State, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Florida, Penn State, Oklahoma, Florida State and Texas have secured the #1 overall kid. No one has done it twice. Surprising USC hasn't done it. But if Notre Dame or Ohio State land Seantrel Henderson, then that wuld be their second.

Im sorry if i sound like a douche, because the more i push you the more info i get out of you

1) It was from an article, one in which CJ says that Illinois is his leader.

2) I know its down to UGA and OSU.

3) And there's a Rivals article from 6/26 in which Tomlinson says he's most comfortable with Illinois.

4) In an interview Brown said that he and the staff haven't spoken in a while. Who knows, maybe its changed in the past week and a half when I was on a cruise and out of the country. Hopefully it has, because Corey Brown is a stud...

Regardless, I feel damn good about this class, and even better if Turner can get his shit together. Joyner would be the icing on the cake IMO.
