As most of you know, I'm in a band.

We play some poppy rock music, but thankfully our lyrical content has grown away from the neon powerpop scene, and we actually feel like we're either telling stories/writing meaningful shit as opposed to most bands others would throw in our genre.

Anyway, I know for the most part we will get flamed by VSN'ers, and while I know we aren't the greatest band in the most influential genre, but I'm still curious to hear some opinions on our music. In specific, our new music.

To the point:

We just released our first single from our upcoming album last night, to a real good response (for being stuck in neutral from a record deal gone bad for 18 months, killing any momentum we'd gained on our own).

The other three songs are over two and a half years old, so you'll definitely hear a difference in style, quality, etc.

Anyway, I'd love to hear some opinions on it. Personally I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't think we had some good potential from it + the album.

Not my idea of good music. The synthed vocals are stupid and terrible. It's stuff like this that has convinced me that if I bought a soundboard and Garageband I'd be able to put out some sort of electropop as a hobby

However, if you enjoy playing this stuff and can make it a career, have at it. I heard like two guitars cords and some basic beat drumming in the background. No idea where you fit in to the band

I didn't care for it, the lead singer is pretty weak, the vocals are really flat and bland even with a ton of autotune. The melody is pretty generic but kinda catchy, the chorus is alright. It sounds fairly well done so kudos on that. Keep doing your thing.

I sing the hook in Rocketship & the high harmonies in the bridge after the guitar 'solo' (er, riff. haha. Not much of a solo).

Yeah, the autotune is solely for effect (I mean it's a pretty trancey song, by far the most simple-club-mainstream-pop from the album, hence it being the first single :shifty.

Yep. The high harmnies in the other 3 songs. I lead the 2nd verse in the weekend, etc. We switch on and off.
