I actually think he's done. He should of retired with Green Bay.
What? He had one of the most productive years of his career last year, and came one pass away from playing for a Super Bowl.
Frankly, part of me can't fault the guy for being a "attention whore". Get ready for some cliches here, but the man just loved the game. He tried to call it quits multiple times, but the love of the game just kept bringing him back for one more year, one more year. He was the toughest son of a bitch I've ever seen... the mere fact that he made it through 297 consecutive games is absolutely outstanding. He outlasted 3 Presidents, with the 4th being halfway through his term. No matter what the injury, you could always count on Brett to be on that field come Sunday, ready to give everything he had for the team.
Say what you want about the interceptions, the playoff meltdowns, and the diva effect that all of the media attention had on his retirements, but Brett was a legend. One of the best to ever take the field. When I'm asked about the best quarterbacks of all-time, Brett's name comes to mind as one of them. Sure, he didn't always take the greatest care of the ball, but he was always willing to take a chance, always willing to try and make something happen for his team, and for all of the interceptions that people love to talk about, he also managed to set the NFL's all-time touchdown passes record. He's the embodiment of everything that is great about this sport, whether its the overall love of the game, the excellence he displayed on the field each time, or the toughness he showed in the face of terrific injuries, Brett was simply one of the best.
The Favre hate is on par with if not more absurd than the Tebow hate. I was never a Packers fan, never truly hopped on the Favre bandwagon anywhere, but you gotta at least give respect to a player like Brett. First ballot HOFer no question IMO, and a great ambassador for the game.
